Shybolt worked his way to the far end of the room, looking at the moldering bones in the lower niches (for he was unable to see the upper niches without climbing), but he found nothing of interest... just bones of reptilian humanoids.

He found himself looking up at the gold-trimmed horn, hanging from a rotted leather strap. The gold was worked in a rope pattern, while the ivory of the horn was covered in strange graven runes.

Grumm to Timorel: Before the little bugger dooms us all, perhaps you can study the horn, ascertain if it is enchanted or cursed.

Without touching it, Shybolt will look as closely as he can at the horn for any wires, triplines, loose bricks or anything else that may give a sign that its trapped. He will also check the floor in front of it to see if it appears to be anything like a trap door.

Also, did the bones look as if they were all of the same state of moldering? and are they still solid enough to support them if they were animated? Were there any weapons in there with the bones?

Shybolt studied the horn carefully, but could find no sign of any traps.

Shybolt wouldn't know if the bones are susceptible to animation; further, they are pretty old, and if there is any difference in their ages, Shybolt isn't enough of a forensics specialist to tell.

(ooc: shybolt was only interested in knowing if the bones were more dust than solid objects. Ie, could the bones hold up the rest of the body or would they just collapse. Then again, animating bones is magic so I see what you mean. they may not hold up the weight, they may be held up and together by magic.)

Anyhoo, Shybolt looks over at Timorel (if Timorel approaches) looks back at the fierce looking 1/2 orc 50' away and says, "he sent you over here by yourself? want me to watch your back while you study the horn or should I continue around the room giving a closer inspection of these walls."

"Not a bad idea." Timorel will follow the path Shybolt took to the horn. On the way he will look around methodically and try to be as aware as possible of his surroundings.

"Well, I think this will just take me a moment. Might as well stay here."

Once Timorel gets to the horn, without touching it, he'll check to see if he understands anything written on it.

Timorel studied the horn carefully, and concluded that he had never seen such a script before. He wished he could show it to his old schoolmaster... that ancient elf smugly believed he had seen every script ever invented, and could read most of them. But sadly, Timorel suspected that was not to be.

Timorel half turns and says, "Well, gentlemen, I'm afraid I have no idea what is written here. I don't think I've ever even seen this script before."

"well, what the hell," says shybolt. "Get ready to run, because I am taking this horn."
