I'm going to need to look back and figure out how many flasks of oil Grumm has. I'm positive it isn't an endless supply. I think my only worry is that the thing may A) have the ability to drain levels and B) be able to attack us while it is on fire, thus adding that damage on top of any other damage it can do.

I'm willing to give it a go if it is the will of the party. I don't want to leave the cleric next to the door, though, while we all stand way back and throw oil. For one thing, we're likely to hit the cleric, and for another, the undead thing can wail away on our only healer while the rest of us are back.

Well put, In light of Grumm's apparent self-assessment of his throwing ability I withdraw my offer to become a human BBQ.

For all we know the thing could be a smouldering heap on the floor as it is from the last fire (but I doubt it). So with the creepy thought of losing life or levels, of which Brother Arven is short on both, I say we come up with a more viable plan. I do agree with Short Round though in that we are adventurers, the DM would not throw something at us that we could not handle.. ...would he? Well OK maybe :? .

This is old school, we could run into a freaking dragon with a vampire riding its back.

BTW, Shybolt has 4 flasks of oil with wick and wax covers

Timorel has only one level to lose, so he doesn't really want to close with that thing.

If we need more supplies, I doubt the undead fellow will go anywhere while we run to the store.

On the other hand, if everyone wants to go for it now, hand me some oil and let's go.

About opening the door, as a player I say let's just do it. Timorel is opposed because he suspects he'll be next to worthless against the creature behind the door. However, it's time for something to happen and right now everyone seems to be more or less on board with taking this thing on. Let's just do it and let the extremities fall where they may, especially as Timorel plans to stay in the back and let it mostly be your extremities at risk.

Hyway, I don't think the lack of decision over the last week has been timidity. As you have so eloquently pointed out, in Old School gaming you have to know when to stand and when to run. For my part, it's also laziness. I've lost track of where the full map is (or whether we even have one at this point) and so I didn't have Timorel suggest anywhere else to go. And, since it was 3:1 against opening the door, I was waiting for Arven to either give in to the majority or to make another argument for going in.
