Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren

Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
Nivek produces his holy symbol and commences to cast blessings about for the dead. In-between such prayers, he looks carefully about for clues and/or dangers.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
Paladin directs Benoni to accompany Tannen and provide light from the lantern. He'll cover them with his short bow in case the corpses clamber to their feet.
If they stay dead, he'll have Benoni toss the guttering torches down the two dark corridors, leaving the lamp here for light, so that we have a sense of what's down there. Paladin will look for blood trails, footprints, and the like. He'll also ask Nivek and Tannen, who appear more willing than he is to get close to the dead, whether the corpses have been obviously looted or merely slain .

"hey, are any of those stiffs rotting?"
Fig Leaves
The bodies are most definitely dead; each is either bristling with crossbow bolts or riddled with stab wounds. None of the bodies show any signs of the decay that the ambushers on the Westport Road exhibited.
Upon more careful inspection, you find that two of the bodies are wearing cheap pendants with a fig leaf motif. The other four each have a small piece of parchment stuffed in their mouths bearing the same fig leaf motif. Other than that, the bodies have nothing of interest. They're not wearing armour. Nor are they carrying any weapons, money or other items of value. Paladin suspects that they have indeed been looted.
Benoni illuminates the southern and western exit passages with torches from the walls. Both passageways are short (20'-30') and appear to lead to further ransacked rooms.
Leo: HP 5/11
Nivek: HP 8/11. Spells remaining: no 1st level; four 0th level.

Odd. Do the fig-wearers look any different for wear (or bathing) than the fig-eaters? Does Mandross know of any Fig-leaf-themed gangs or temples in Westport (I ask here since he'll just relay what he knows).
Also, Mandross will snatch up one of the cheap fig leaf pendants.

Mandross inspects the various bodies. The pendant wearers are slightly darker skinned and have darker hair than the others. It looks like they come from a different ethnic background.Joe the Rat wrote:Odd. Do the fig-wearers look any different for wear (or bathing) than the fig-eaters? [Rolls] Mandross digs into his memories of his time as an apprentice at Westport. He vaguely remembers the fig leaf being the emblem of the notorious Lantini gang.

Looks like we are not the only ones after that gemstone.
"Lets keep moving."
Once the group is assebled, Tannen prepares to lead them down the western passageway. Is there any signs of recent passage that way? bloodstains, scuff marks, etc.

doughbert looks at the dead bodies as the group moves on and mutters, "I'm in no hurry to catch the head of this death snake."

Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
Mandross lifts up the fig leaf to show the others "The fellows wearing these are from the Lantini gang... We've got competition from the locals. Competition or a possible ally, depending on how we can work it. Think of some ideas."
Mandross slips the fig leaf pendant on, and tucks it under his jacket.

Death and Destruction
Ignoring the room to the south for the time being, Tannen leads the party west. Indeed, bloodstains do appear to continue in this direction. After a short (20') passage, you find yourselves in another large room (40' E-W x 50' N-S). The room has no light source of its own, but Benoni's lantern illuminates another scene of death and destruction. The west wall is lined with the remains of several wooden bunks and blood-stained bedding, suggesting that this room was, until recently, a dormitory. Four corpses are piled in a heap in one corner.Birthright wrote:Once the group is assebled, Tannen prepares to lead them down the western passageway. There is one additional exit from this room - a closed wooden door in the middle of the southern wall.
