Mandross will make sure Doughbert is stable (as in not going to fall off the cart), and scan around for more trouble.

Assuming the round lasts that long.

Westport Road - Round 5

Climbing on to the leading wagon, the only enemy Paladin can see is the Rotting Man battling with Leo further down the road. Shaw just shakes his head rather frantically when Paladin questions him about what he might be carrying.

The Rotting Man continues to fight Leo, catching him again with his shortsword [3 damage].

Nivek turns from the downed Archer 4, and rushes to help Leo.

Tannen clambers aboard the nearest wagon and instructs the driver to head down the road towards the Rotting Man.

Gannicus finally reaches the Rotting Man and attacks him with his longsword [modified "to hit" roll: 22 - hit! For 10 damage]. It's a savage blow that almost cuts the ambusher clean in half, bringing the battle to a close.

Doughbert: -3/5 (unconscious, stabilised)

The fight is over already? What just happened? What are these things? Leo looks to Gannicus and smiles, "Thanks."
Now that the rotting man is dead, he looks down and continues to prod and poke the carcass with his spear in an attempt to discover what this thing is...

Gannicus wipes his blades on the grass and looks around to see if there is anything out of the ordinary.

Right, says Paladin, grasping the situation at hand. He gestures Benoni up to the back of the cart so his right hand man is nearby. Nivek! Nivek! I need you! he shouts at the dwarf, hopping in the air and pantomiming running into a closed door. Once he has Nivek's attention, he'll point to the downed Doughbert.

Paladin will leave Benoni to watch over Doughbert after Nivek's been informed and go check out the archers. He'll check to see if any of them look undeadish. Those he shoots in the head a few times and then leaves for the priests. Any that look like your run of the mill bandits he'll check for a pulse and bind their wounds, then check for money and gear.

Seeing the active threats gone, Nivek heads back to Doughbert. "Looks like the Forge Lord's blessings are needed already." mutters Nivek as he prepares to provide some measure of healing to the unconscious fellow (cure light wounds).
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

With Doughbert well looked after, Mandross will step out of the way. He'll move up to take a moment and soothe the horse in front of Shaw. "You're a steady fella. Good boy. You make sure they treat you nice." he then turns up to Shaw, and adds "Looks like we'll survive, but there may be more around. Give the lads a moment to investigate, then we'll be off. Do you have any extra tarps? We may want to drag some of these former miscreants to the local constabulary."

Undead or Otherwise?

Post by JoeCarr28 »

Nivek calls upon the compassion of the Forge Lord to heal the unconscious Doughbert, and the deity duly obliges [7 hit points restored - nice roll :) ].

You then turn your attention to the bodies of the ambushers. Aside from the clearly rotting one that was lying in the road, the other four are all distinctly off-colour. Two of them have skin that is an unusual pale yellow/brown colour. The other two are discoloured in a similar way, but also have patchy green blotches. But are any of them undead, or are they suffering from some other sort of affliction or curse? Nivek and Doughbert as Clerics are perhaps the best qualified to answer [rolls]. However, it is beyond both their experience - neither has seen anything like it before and neither can say categorically whether your recent opponents were undead or otherwise.

Without touching the bodies, Paladin can see that they are all are dressed in well-used leather armour of various designs, and each carries a shortsword. The four archers also have a short bow and a quiver of arrows. (If Paladin wishes to conduct a more thorough search of the bodies, e.g. for money, etc., he will of course have to touch them - does he proceed?)

"I'd rather not be carrying any of them bodies if it's all the same with you," retorts Shaw. "They don't look right healthy, if you know what I mean. Wouldn't want them to be infecting any of my top notch produce. Could put a man out of business if his wares were to make people poorly."

Paladin is notably hesitant to come within touching range of the plague-born. He eyes Benoni, but instead turns away and heads back to the wagons.

With no apparent insight into the bodies, Leo first sets about tending his own wounds, washing and wrapping them, and then drags the bodies into a pile just off the road and, using the plentiful scrub as kindling, burns the lot of them.

When that is complete, he loads up in a wagon to finish their journey.
