Given Nivek's current role as melee fighter, and Karl's newfound archery skills, he is willing to switch with Nivek in the march order.

As the party begins to leave the room doughbert remembers the dropped crossbow and retrieves its. He takes the 6-12 seconds to rearm it and then moves into his place at the rear of the party.

After Tannen reassures him, Hiker nods. "I'll keep this bow ready to shoot whatever bad men hurt Miss Alma." He looks at Karl adds, "This heavy leather shirt and stuff will help? If I don't get hit though, will I still get stronger?"

OOC: Adjusting Character sheet accordingly, thanks!!

Nivek taps Karl on the shoulder and motions him to the middle rank and whispers, "Missiles are best utilized from behind the front ranks. I will do my best to keep foes from reaching you so that you might pincushion the opposition."

As Nivek and Karl switch places in the marching order, Tannen taps Hiker on the shoulder reassuringly. "As long as you stay alive you'll get stronger, so that leather shirt will help you get stronger." he whispers to the farm-hand come archer.

Updated marching order:

Tannen/Nivek
Karl/Hiker
Doughbert/Paladin

Tannen leads the party south from the door to the bandits' common room and then turns to his right up the north-westerly passage. The passage continues north-west for about 60' before ending at a crossroads. You stop a little way short of the crossroads to take in your new surroundings.

From the crossroads, tunnels run to the north and to the south. A further short (10') passage to the west is barred by a closed wooden gate. Peering beyond the gate, you can see that it leads to a cave. Straw litters the floor of this cave and you can see that it has been compartmentalised by a series of wooden fences. It certainly looks (and smells) like it's designed to keep livestock of some sort although, as far as you can see, it appears to be empty at the moment.

Doughbert: HP 5/5. No '0' level spells remaining today.
Hiker: HP 9/9.
Karl: HP 8/8.
Nivek: HP 7/7. 2 '0' level spells remaining today.
Paladin: HP 3/4.
Tannen: HP 9/9.
~4.10 pm, 28th day of Harvestide.

Hiker, keeping an arrow nocked and ready, shuffles along quietly amongst his friends. I hope miss Alma is ok, he thinks, these bad men better not have hurt her. She's been through enough and needs to go home...

As the party stops, doughbert kneels close to the wall and aims his crossbow back the way they had come. He's ready for anything that comes up the passage with the knowledge that he won't be the first thing any intruder might see.

Karl inhales deeply at the familiar smell of animals. "Think we oughtta check the stable there - make sure nobody's tucked away?" he asks quietly.

***MAP UPDATED***

"Yeah, we should check the stables, let me peek to the North and South first..." says Tannen in a whisper.

Tannen peeks into the crossroads to look cautiously up the north and south passageways. He'll also attempt to hush the party (a finger held up to his lips) and listen for any tell-tale sounds coming from either direction (or the 'stable').
