(OOC: wow, these are some alert bandits)

"oy, its just me." grumbles Doughbert, trying to make his voice sound muffled. He'll then push the door open and saunter in with his face partially hid from view. At this point he will wait to see what happens.

Tannen leans against whichever wall will give him the most cover from the bandits' view, whilst ensuring he has a firm, but not tight grip on the haft of his hand axe...

((Maybe not so alert ... the door IS partially open and everyone else was communicating through gestures rather than words))

[Rolls for reaction; no modifier from Doughbert's Charisma]

"And who the bloody 'ell are you?" challenges one of four bandits, all of whom are seated around a wooden table in the centre of this decent-sized room (approximately 30' x 30'). Pushing their chairs backwards away from the table, they rise and reach for their weapons (short swords) which are readily to hand.

At this stage the bandits seem unaware of the others outside the room.

"Morward wants this room cleared. He's right behind me with something interesting we captured out on the trail. Now hurry and move that that table against the far wall."

Seize him!

"Seize him lads," and the bandits advance toward Doughbert brandishing their short swords.

((sorry, Doughbert, you go unlucky with your reaction roll :( )).

We'll switch to rounds to see how it plays out - actions for the first round please

Doughbrt fires his crossbow at the mouthy one. Short distance is +1, but this is really really short dostance. Perhaps a +2 is in order?

Tannen bursts into the room, sliding in to the left and attempting to draw the bandits' attention away from the halfling. If he can attack more quickly by throwing his hand axe, he will do so, but his preference is to quickly switch back to his long sword (it's in his left hand) and engage the nearest bandit in melee if one is close enough.

Karl follows Tannen in and gets out of the doorway to make room for others (to the left, if Tannen leaves enough space). He will fire at the first bandit he gets a clear shot at - preferably not into a melee. Karl will drop his crossbow to start drawing weapons for melee (next round).

(OOC: how long does it take to ready a shield from shoulder position?)

Nivek follows up with thrown hammer (if clear shot at one) and otherwise moves to engage melee (w mace/shield) to keep bandits from moving onto our ranged attackers.

ooc: do we have a floor-plan of this chamber yet?

((Sorry for the slow update - had TWO computer failures over the weekend. Back up and running now. :) ))

Updated tactical map here: https://sites.google.com/site/marketstonecampaign/ - this is the point at which the guards have shouted "seize him".

Just holding for Paldin's and Hiker's first round actions ...

As a rule, I don't get too hung-up on minor combat actions like that - readying a weapon/shield, switching weapons, etc. You can have those for free.

Doughbert: HP 5/5. No '0' level spells remaining today.
Hiker: HP 9/9.
Karl: HP 8/8.
Nivek: HP 7/7. 2 '0' level spells remaining today.
Paladin: HP 3/4.
Tannen: HP 9/9.
3 pm, 28th day of Harvestide.
