Ignoring the others, Hiker whispers in Alma's ear and moves to dash across the hallway to take Alma behind all the others (the elves and Doughbert) keeping himself between Alma and any possible line of fire from up the hall.
"I stay with Alma," Hikers says through clenched teeth, "And Alma stays with me."

Sconced, [

rolls] north of you, [
rolls] on the west side of the tunnel.
Or if it's just fire you're after, there is a lit oil lamp in the room behind Mandross.

OK, so let me just try and summarise everyone's actions so we're perfectly clear:
Tannen, Nivek and (hopefully) the three elves are going to rush the southern door.
Mandross is going to wait in the easterly corridor for any signs of the bandits to the north.
Rather than covering the corridor to the north as instructed by Tannen, Doughbert will also head towards the southern door, trying to persuade Alma to do likewise. Upon reaching the southern door, he'll turn and fire at any enemies coming down the corridor.
Also ignoring Tannen, rather than heading south, Hiker will lead Alma across the intersection into the easterly corridor.
Paladin ... will you cover the northerly corridor as instructed by Tannen, or will you also do your own thing?
And what about poor old Karl?
If you could please just confirm the above, we'll move to rounds and resolve the epic conflict ...
Doughbert: HP 3/5. No '0' level spells remaining today.
Hiker: HP 9/9.
Karl: HP -2/8 (stabilised).
Mandross: HP 5/5. 3 '0' level and 1 1st level spell remaining today.
Nivek: HP 6/7. 1 '0' level spell remaining today.
Paladin: HP 3/4.
Tannen: HP 5/9.

If his meat shields (the elves) are heading south, Mandross will follow suit.
Ideally, he'd also try and drag young Mr. Hiker and Alma along with a muttered "Stay together" - depending on how or when their paths cross.

Paladin drags the feeble Karl into whatever hiding spot he can see for him, perhaps behind or inside one of the cells, or under a table (if there is one in the room). Basically, Paladin is just trying to keep anyone who looks quickly down the corridor and into the room from seeing Karl lying there. Then Paladin will hide himself somewhere where Karl isn't.

Birthright wrote:Without missing a beat, Tannen whispers a quick order to the group: "Halflings, cover the corridor to the north. Alma, hide somewhere. Hiker and the rest, with me!!" Then without missing a beat, he charges the southern doorway, attempting to burst through it to shoot the nearest enemy with his crossbow. He'll then draw steel and shield to engage them.
Tannen runs the 25' from his current position to the southerly door. [
Rolls]. The bandits beyond the door aren't surprised, and push the door fully-closed as the fighter charges. ((
When Tannen reaches the door, it is held shut by the bandit(s). Therefore, for opening purposes, I'll treat the door as 'stuck' rather than 'locked'. This means that Tannen will successfully burst through on a roll of 1-3 in 1d6 taking into account his STR bonus. Tannen rolls ... 5)). Tannen barges the door with all his might, but the bandits hold firm and the door stays closed.
Tannen barely has a moment to think about the pain in his now-bruised shoulder before Nivek careers into the back of him at full pelt in a second attempt to open the door ((
Nivek rolls ... 2)). The bandit(s) are unable to resist another onslaught and the door bursts open.
The elves following behind push past Tannen and Nivek and through the doorway in an attempt to secure the space beyond. They find three bandits in a small, square (20' x 20') cave. There appears to be just one other exit from the room, a door in the west wall. [
Rolls]. The three bandits grit their teeth and steel themselves for a fight.
Doughbert follows the others to the southerly door but, rather then entering the room, turns and aims his shortbow back up the tunnel to the north.
Hiker and Alma traverse the intersection, Hiker taking-up a northerly-facing firing position whilst shielding the farmer's wife.
Meanwhile Paladin attempts to drag Karl into one of the prison cells, before finding a dark corner to hide himself in.
Up at the other end of the corridor, Morward and his companions move around the corner to join the fray ...
((
I don't have access to MapTool at the moment, so I'm going to pause things here. Depending on the distances already moved, it's possible that there will be some fighting in the southerly room this round. There's also likely to be some crossbow fire from the northern end of the corridor
, and possibly return fire. It's been a bit 'free-form' this round, as everything was essentially triggered by Tannen's charge. We'll move to conventional initiative for Round 2.))
Mandross ... please can you clarify whether you'll follow your 'meat-shields' (I'm sure you really mean 'noble elven companions') into the southerly room, or whether you'll stay in the corridor with Doughbert in the hope of firing off your Sleep spell.
