Without approaching past the NW split - or Tannen, what can we see past the door to the North?
Hiker nods, his mop of hair bobbing into his eyes momentarily before he brushes it away clumsily whilst keeping his bow at the ready. "Shield arm high, uh huh."

Paladin sighs, hangs back so he can watch the main corridor, and tries to hide himself by making himself even smaller. If necessary, he'll partially smother one of the torches in the wall brackets to guarantee himself a good, deep shadow.

Nivek follows along with the group, nodding in agreement with Tannen's directions as logical. He attempts to communicate with the others via gestures and hand signals in an attempt to keep everyone in an appropriate place, even though he assumes our thick-headed ones will not likely follow it anyhow. Given his experience with them, he wonders how humans continue to spread across the lands.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Karl smiles and nods his head, then gives Hiker a hard look and hold up a finger in front of his mouth - the universal sign of "be vewwy vewwy quiet."

Classic.

Not intending to split the party. When we move up the NW corridor, we'll have our 'rear guard' move up to the intersection with the NW corridor.

Whilst Paladin hangs back to keep watch on the main east-west corridor, the others follow Tannen towards the slightly open door to the north. When Tannen reaches the branching passage to the north-west, he halts and peers cautiously up it. He sees that it runs north-west for about 70' before ending at a cross-roads; there are new passages to the north and to the south, but continuing west the way appears to be partially blocked by a wooden gate, a bit like one you might see in a farmyard.

The main party are now within 20' of the ajar door ahead of them, but it's only open a few inches so you're none the wiser as to what might lie beyond it.

Hiker nods, "Right, quiet, like when I'm hunting. There was this one time, I was hunting rabbits and I sneezed and spooked the rabbit and he got away and--" the lad halted mid-sentence under the glare of the others.

He held up a finger to his lips, nodded again, and went back to skulking along with the rest of them, bow at the ready.

OOC: That song was great, hadn't heard that one before. Oh, and sorry this came a few minutes too late, Joe posted whilst I was writing and getting distracted by ... work... ugh.

Still scowling from Hiker, Karl tries to signal Tannen, a with thumb and a head nod towards the door passage.

Tannen nods to Karl in the affirmative. First though, he signals Paladin to come back to the rest of the party. The plan is to approach the partly opened door at the north end of the corridor. While the rest of the party keep missiles at the ready Tannen will gently sling his crossbow and draw his sword quietly (but leaves his shield on his back so as to not make too much noise).

OOC: Joe, does it look like horses have been through here? Maybe a silly question, but is the tunnel large enough? That door/gate might be like a horse yard or 'barn'? is there any smell of beasts around here?
