Doughbert waits in the woods and wonders what the others will do. He wonders if all the talk back at the old man's place about trying to deal with the bandits was an actual plan. He decides that if the others decide to meet with them he will hide out in the woods to see how it goes down.

Tannen to Paladin: "Nice work. Are they armed? Do they wear armor? See if you can sneak a peak at them. There could be a fresh meal in it for you if you play this out right, little one. Find out what you can and I'll go and talk to them."

Paladin nods and squiggles back to Doughbert. He'll then cautiously sneak forward toward the voices, stopping when he can get a glimpse of the speakers. Paladin doesn't feel in a rush, so he'll be very cautious and stop moving if anything, like the pace, tone, or topics of discussion change.

Paladin creeps forward as silently as possible towards the voices (rolls). Peering from behind a large tree trunk, he sees four humans and a dwarf. They're sheltering from the rain just inside the mouth of a cave within a cliff face. The cave opening looks quite similar to the goblin caves of yesterday. Indeed, you reckon that it's quite likely that you're on the other side of the same rocky promontory that housed the goblin caves (the fact that the cliff face appears to continue some way north would also explain your curving path this morning).

All five are wearing leather armour and carrying crossbows. They appear reasonably alert; your best guess would be that they are guarding the cave entrance.

Doughbert: HP 5/5. No '0' level spells remaining today.
Hiker: HP 9/9.
Karl: HP 8/8.
Nivek: HP 7/7. 2 '0' level spells remaining today.
Paladin: HP 3/4.
Tannen: HP 9/9.

Paladin will patiently lie there for fifteen minutes to see if they move in or out of the cave. If it appears that the guards don't roam about, he'll head back to the rest of the party as sneakily as possible.

No, they pretty much stay where they are throughout that time. They appear to be taking their guarding duties seriously (although not as seriously as Hiker takes his!).

Nivek remarks, "I would think it best that just one or maybe two of us attempt a greeting, whilst the rest keep back. If they be friendly, we can signal for the others to join, but if they are hostile, we should need some backup quick."

"Agreed." Whispers Tannen, thus volunteering himself to greet the bandit guards.

"The rest can cover us from the treeline with their bows."

"What do we want to ask them? Can we bribe them with gold for information, or is such likely to get us nowhere?"

Doughbert continues waiting in the woods. He isn't too sure announcing our presence to a large group of bandits who most likely outnumber us and thus would have no need to barter with us. He looks around the woods for a good place to hide the gold he is carrying.

Whilst the others decide how to approach the guards, Doughbert finds a convenient hole beneath the roots of a fallen tree in which he can stash his coins.

((Waiting on a definite course of action from Tannen, Nivek and/or Paladin.))
