(Paladin originally took 257 mixed - gold and silver - coins [page 55]. These were split as 57 gold and 200 [based on the overall ratio of gold:silver in the treasure hoard - Paladin didn't originally say he priortised gold over silver]. Let's assume, given the time pressure, you pay your potential informants in gold only. That leaves you with 7 gold and 200 silver.)

My character sheet says I took 65 gold and 105 silver, so maybe Paladin actually took 64 gold and 191 silver. Its chump change either way, just trying to keep the record keeping straight )

OK ... here's the definitive version ...

Let's first allocate the 131 gold according to the relative quantities of coins taken (Paladin:Doughbert = 257:170). This gives Paladin 79 gold and Doughbert 52 gold.

We'll then make up the balance of you coinage with silver: Paladin - 178 silver; Doubert - 118 silver.

I did it by simply splitting the gold coins equally between us and of course the straight gold piece I took for myself lol.

Nivek retraces his steps and finds the scene outside the cave much as he left it - Pony-Tail and his guards with their crossbows trained on Tannen.

"Got the money?" the leader asks Nivek.

Nivek gives the bag a shake, reaches in to grab a random handful to show to the bandit that it is gold. "As you can see, we keep to our word... Here is the gold." With that Nivek hands it over. "We really just want the information. We can be friends through this," Nivek smiles genuinely to convey his intent for cooperation.

Nivek adds, "Perhaps these goblins vex you as well? In the end, this could be win-win for all."

Paladin pauses as he crawls through the underbrush. The faint smell of crushed raspberries fills his nostrils. He harkens back to the delicious pies his mother used to make: one each for him and his brothers and two apiece for his parents. "A pie is never divided!" he thinks. Shaking himself, he crawls forward again.

Pony-Tail receives the bag of money from Nivek. He doesn't bother to count it. Instead, he just passes it to the dwarven guard who takes it away into the cave behind. The leader then signals for the other guards to lower their crossbows, although they don't put them away.

Smiling, the warrrior turns to Tannen and Nivek. "So, now that the preliminaries are out of the way, you were after some information about the whereabouts of a goblin with a horned helm, right? Well, we have seen him. We came across him yesterday morning. A few of us were out hunting in the forest, a little way west of here. We were tracking a deer when, all of a sudden, we could hear something crashing through the trees towards us. It turned out to be two goblins riding wolves. One of them was wearing a helmet with horns coming out of either side, which I guess is the one you're after. Well, we thought we were being attacked, so we fired our crossbows. We managed to bring down one of the goblins and its mount, but the other, the horned one, got away to the north. To be honest, now that I think about it, I'm not sure they were trying to ambush us. I think it was probably just a coincidence that we happened to be in their path. They seemed as surprised as us and at no point raised a weapon against us. Hope that helps. You'll probably be wanting to return to the bodies that you found and see if you can pick up a trail to the North."

The pony-tailed warrior narrows his eyes. "Such as?" he enquires cautiously. "I don't think you mentioned what it is exactly that you're looking for ..."
