First Treasure (don't spend it all at once!)

A search of the goblin’s body reveals a pouch containing 3 gold pieces tucked away within its leather armour. It also has a short sword strapped to its side, and a shortbow and quiver with ten arrows on its back. The goblin’s only other distinctive feature is a tattoo on its upper arm (below). The wolf has the same symbol crudely branded into its flank.

Judging by the state of the bodies and the wounds, you would guess that they’ve been there less than a day.

As far as he can remember, Hiker reckons that this goblin looks similar to the ones that took Alma.

By this time, Barnaby appears to have lost interest in your find, and has started ambling off again towards the east, ignoring the other tracks to the north.

After the party has finished examining the goblin and wolf corpse, Tannen turns to his companions.

"Looks like we'd better follow the local guide. It would appear that we are not the only ones on a goblin hunt. Maybe someone's beaten us to finding Alma?"

With one last look at the goblin corpse he heads after their furry guide.

"Looks like we follow the bear, boys" remarks Nivek as he stows his warhammer and shield to resume the hike. "The bear knows where we need to be headin"

Paladin will collect the shortbow, quiver, and ten shortbow arrows, adding them to his armament. He'll also take the short sword and pouch with 3 gold pieces. Paladin quietly chortles to himself at his good fortune. With some trepidation, he'll pull the crossbow bolt out of the corpse and look at it as he follows after the others. He'll look it over for any sign of special fletching, abnormal length, or particular weight. He'll do the same with the goblin's arrows.

"Mr. Half man, could I get a couple of them arrows, I been needin to replace them ones I lost when I got felled asleep."

Hiker then follows the others following Barnaby.

Watching the halfling pick over the corpse reminded Karl of the worst part of being in the militia, scavenging. He knew it was important, but the memories of touching the dead like that made his wounded head hurt. He was glad not to have to do it here.

Karl followed the magical bear, wondering with concern over the tracks that went north.

At last ...

Paladin examines one of the crossbow bolts that felled the dire wolf and one of the goblin’s arrows. The crossbow bolt appears entirely standard - like any you would purchase at a weapons supplier. The arrow is less conventional though; it’s serviceable enough, but the shaft is rather crude and the tip and flight are of an unusual design.

Barnaby presses-on into the forest almost nonchalantly, as if The Coastwood and its denizens pose no risk to him whatsoever. Again, he maintains a steady pace, always keeping a clear distance ahead of the party.

After a further half an hour of walking, the bear stops at the edge of a clearing and lies down at the foot of a large oak tree. Across the clearing, opposite you, you can see a tunnel-like entrance leading into a cliff face. It would seem that you’ve finally found your destination. Whilst you can’t see any goblins, the ground around the cave entrance is well worn indicating heavy recent traffic. There’s also a makeshift refuse heap just to the right of the entrance, the smell of which is less than enticing.

Hiker takes the arrows from Paladin, "Thank ya Mr. Halfman, I sure hope Ms. Alma's alright, you think these goblin things want to eat her?"

[OOC]Just wondering, Is this natural caves or something hewn out like a mine entrance? (dwarf ability if necessary)

Nivek pulls out his warhammer and shield. "Looks like this is the place. Will we head right in? or rest a bit so that we are refreshed?," queries Nivek.
