Season 1 - Episode 4: The Goblin Caves
Moderator: JoeCarr28
You, or I?
With the howls of the wolf ringing in your ears, you make you way out of the caves and into the weak evening sunshine of The Coastwood. At the edge of the trees you see Barnaby lying down, his head resting upon his front paws, waiting patiently for your return.
Upon seeing the injured Nivek and Paladin, the bear gets to his feet and seems to shake his head in an almost exasperated fashion. However, when he catches sight of the three goblins, Barnaby rises on to his hind legs and assumes a much more menacing posture. He seems to look at you as if to say "are you going to finish them off, or shall I?"

Re: Season 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
"A bear has got to eat too", Nivek remarks a little coldly (in common).
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?
Re: Season 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Emerging from the cave is a bit of a relief for the statue laden Hiker. The bear's aggressive stance upon seeing the goblins is essentially lost on Hiker who is looking around and wondering if he is supposed to put the statues down, but like a good guard he just takes the weight and waits.
Swift, Noisy and Bloody
The goblins' demise is swift, noisy and bloody. Barnaby slays them in a brutally merciless fashion, ignoring their desperate pleas and pathetic whimpering.
Once he's finished, Barnaby crouches down to allow the injured Paladin and Nivek to be hoisted on to his back (at last Paladin's bear-riding ambitions become a reality!) and he starts ambling back westward in the direction of the old man's cave.

Re: Season 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Doughbert picks over the bloody pieces of goblin goo to make sure nothing valuable would be left behind. Then he follows after the bear.

Wheee! goes Paladin, wheekly.
Messy Job
It's a messy job given the way that Barnaby left them, but amidst the goblins' blood and entrails Doughbert manages to recover 2 gold pieces and 5 silver pieces.Hywaywolf wrote:Doughbert picks over the bloody pieces of goblin goo to make sure nothing valuable would be left behind. You're not sure if it's intentional, but Barnaby seems to stumble slightly, jolting Paladin in the process and causing his wound to sing with pain. Strangely, Nivek isn't affected in the same way; it must just have been the way that Paladin was sitting.Iain_IF wrote:Wheee! goes Paladin, wheekly.
Barnaby continues to lead you westwards, back towards the old man's cave. After about half an hour of walking you reach the bodies of the dead wolf and the dead goblin that you first encountered on the way to the the goblins' caves (page 27 if you need a quick refresh). Once again ignoring the tracks to the north, Barnaby continues west without pausing.
[Rolls]
However, just as you pass the bodies, Doughbert, Nivek, Paladin and Tannen all notice a rather incongruous scrap of pale yellow cloth caught on the branches of a bush a few yards to the north.

[OOC: Karl probably doesn't have a clue - it's Hiker that worked on the farm that Alma was taken from]Hywaywolf wrote:Karl, what color clothing was miss alma wearing?
