Doughbert's pack was already secured to the pony.
whisper; "A little recon might be advised. I will go in unless you think another course of action would be prudent." He looks towards Paladin. "Paladin we gotta sneak in and make sure everything is safe before we make a roasting fire and draw in enemies."

"OK, we'll wait here while the two little ones have a quite look around." Tannen will secure the Jumbles' halter-rope to something sturdy and retrieve his shield from the old horse's back. He keeps his sword sheathed for the time being [assuming that the area is reasonably clear and that he'd have plenty of time to notice any oncoming assailants

Re: Chapter 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Paladin will go and have a look-see around the house before pincushioning Dolly. He regrets having clapped so loudly before. Paladin will take advantage of the underbrush when conducting his surveillance. If nothing seems out of whack, he'll sidle up to the door or window to listen carefully at what might be inside the house. Finally, he'll idly collect a decent sized stone to throw as he skulks about.

Re: Chapter 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Doughbert sneaks towards the house to the opposite side that Paladin is taking. Carefully scanning the area.

Northridge Farm
The last farmhouse that you passed along the road was, you estimate, 1-2 miles back. The occurence of farmhouses generally became less and less frequent the further you got from Marketstone, and here on the edge of the district they are quite widely spaced.
From what you can see, Northridge has a mixture of livestock and arable farming. As Paladin has already noticed, there are sheep (and cattle) in the nearby fields. But there are also well-tended crops, including some that clearly have been harvested recently (maybe not today, but certainly sometime during the last few days). You can't see any wagons or downed tools. Overall, whilst there doesn't appear to be anyone around, the place certainly doesn't look abandoned. Nor does it appear that anyone has left in an unsual hurry.
At the moment, dusk is setting in, but it is not yet dark. You can see reasonably clearly. You've probably got around half an hour of light left.
The two halflings creep towards the house. With the curtains drawn and doors closed, it's impossible to see inside. Listening [Rolls], neither of you hear anything.
[Incidentally, is it 'Jumbles' or 'Jangles'? The poor animal's looking confused!].

Re: Chapter 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Nivek keeps eyes upon the stealthy ones and waits for indications of trouble.... mumbling something about "they best not be getting us into trouble with pilfering hands".
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?
Re: Northridge Farm

Doughbert continues on searching and listening for clues or would-be attackers.
