Re: Out-of-Character Chat
I am not looking for the job, but can we decide upon a party leader? I enjoy sharing what Nivek thinks is the correct course of action, but I think we need someone who can make the decisions for us as a whole. Someone who listens to opinions of various members, but ultimately decides the party course of action... just so we can avoid committee meetings for everything.
Nivek does not consider himself as a leader, but more of an advisory sort of person. He would have input of course, especially when issues of conscious, right and wrong, or morals are factors. Deciding direction of travel, when to rest, who goes in first, etc. would be better done by another.
anyhows, that is what is on my mind this morning. Considering this is my first play-by-post experience, I am enjoying the game a lot. Thanks all for a great game!

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
I thought Nivek might be the better leader (CHA 15), but I supposed if he's not a leader-type then Tannen is next most logical. He has some basic military training, and comes from a merchant class background. He's only got CHA 9 though.
Unless anyone else has another preference, I suppose Tannen could be the 'caller' for the group?

That's taking 'getting into character' a little too far!!swirler wrote:hey all I'm in the hospital but should beable to catch up on smartphone tomorrow
Hope you're feeling better soon.
XP for Role-Playing
I'm conscious of the relatively slow character progression (in terms of XP and levelling), which I guess is symptomatic of many play-by-post games. Whilst I don't fundamentally have a problem with slow progression as long as everyone is enjoying themselves, I can appreciate that it might become a source of frustration, particularly for the spell-casting classes.
Therefore, to give the rate of XP increase a small boost, I'm thinking of introducing XP for role-playing. And rather than just awarding blocks of role-playing XP on an arbitrary and ad hoc basis, I would propose to introduce a basic award of 10 XP for each in-character post. I've been back through the posts made to date, and I don't think this is would be game-breaking. The most any character would have earned in a given month so far would have been 200 XP, and the biggest total awarded to a given character since the start of the game would have been 280 XP (up until the end of January 2011).
The idea behind the system is that it rewards regular in-character posting, which for me are the mainstays of a play-by-post game.
Any thoughts from the players' perspective?

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
I'm game for whatever you decide Joe. Role-playing, especially in play by post, is essential because it helps make the world real and adds depth when actions are often slow due to the nature of play by post.
