*spurt*
Doughbert continues his defensive unconsciousness tactic.
This, right here, is why I love this game!

Hi all. I'll be away from internet access for the next 48 hours (bit of a bummer actually, given where we are up to!).
Tannen will do his best to defeat the wolves, focusing on the most wounded or weakest wolves first and encouraging any able fighters in the group to focus their attacks on the same animal. If he is severely wounded (say one or two hp left), he'll try and jump into a thick bush for cover, or leap up to grab a high branch on which to pull himself up out of reach of the wolves.
As a last resort, he'll bash his shield and sword together as loudly as possible in order to intimidate the wolves (they might be startled by such a harsh, unfamiliar sound).
Should the group survive the wolf skirmish, Tannen will suggest that we return with the wounded to recuperate at the farm - pushing on would probably only put more lives in danger. Jumbles can be used to carry any unconscious members of the party and we can even stash some of our gear in the forest if need be in order to lighten the load.

Wow, Hiker was taken down without a single hit, terrible luck for poor Hiker. If our rolls continue apace we will all be dead sooner than later. YIKES!

Wow, look what happens when I leave for a couple of days! Thankfully we somehow survived that encounter.
I had to laugh as I was reading through the posts I missed while I was away. The other players and the DM of my face-to-face AD&D 2nd Edition group all think I am notorious for poor 'luck' when it comes to rolling dice, particularly on damage rolls. It's funny to see that this has continued over into the online gaming world - two rolls of 2 on a d8 for damage!!
Thankfully though, Tannen may live to fight another day.
Player advice to other players (since Tannen is currently incapable of speech): Let's get the heck out of this forest! Leave any non-essential gear behind and fashion a litter if needs be to drag the fallen back to the safety of the farm!!
Death and Dying

On reflection, and thanks to some feedback and suggestions from the main BFRPG forum, I'm going to modify our approach to the binding of dying characters' wounds. It will now only take one full round, so we won't have a situation such as in the recent combat where Paladin was tied up for several rounds tending to Hiker. I've updated the 'House Rules' topic accordingly with the following:
Death and Dying (p48, p141). We will use the optional 'Negative Hit Point' rule on p141 of the rulebook. A character reduced to zero hit points or less is rendered unconscious and bleeding. They will continue to lose 1 hit point per round due to blood loss. They will die when their hit points reach a negative number equal to their Constitution score. This hit point loss may be stopped through magical healing or by someone binding the dying characters wounds. The binding process takes one full round during which the binding character may take no other action, including defending themselves. Once treated, an injured character regains consciousness, but may not move more than a few feet without help, nor fight, nor cast spells, until their hit points are again greater than zero.
(So Paladin will now need to find another excuse for staying out of the action ...)

Yeah that was an ugly scene ... Hiker couldn't hit the ocean from a boat.

No worries... I just hope that Karl will be able to find the gear that Paladin left behind when he decided to be lazy instead of committed to the group. And, of course, I hope that Karl doesn't starve to death.
