Wasn't there a downloadable transcript of the first two episodes of the game? Can someone point me towards it? I can't find it now.

There were transcripts available, but I can't see them now either...

I removed the topic. It quickly become clear that it was a project I was never going to keep on top of.
I subsequently split the original game thread into the separate episodes as a different means of making it easier to read back and reference.
Anyway, I've attached document again here that covers the first two episodes.

Updated House Rules

Hi everyone - hope you had a nice Christmas. Preparations for Season 2 are well underway. To start with, I've recently updated the House Rules topic. Please do take a look if you haven't already done so. The updates include some of your suggestions and requests, including the optional rules for thief ability progression and the use of the Combat Options supplement. I've also expanded the available races and classes for new characters, and tidied a few other things up.
If anyone has any other comments or suggestions for enhancing the game, be they house rules, supplements, or any other more general feedback, please do let me know and I'll try and take it into account.

A quick triad of questions on Combat Options:
Is weapon specialization restricted to Fighters, or are the subclasses eligible (Ranger, for example)?
Do existing fighters (which basically means Tannen) get to pick up their specialization rank from level 1?
Are torches a viable off-hand weapon?

I know Shybolt who is currently bleeding all over Redbluff uses a torch as an offhand defensive weapon

Indeed.That's what inspired the question.
The torch thing, not the bleeding.

All good questions ...
Joe the Rat wrote:Is weapon specialization restricted to Fighters, or are the subclasses eligible (Ranger, for example)?
It's restricted to Fighters only (and, by extension, Fighter combination classes). So it's NOT available to Rangers and Paladins. I believe that's how it works in AD&D 2E, which I'm guessing is the original inspiration for this particular optional rule.
Joe the Rat wrote:Do existing fighters (which basically means Tannen) get to pick up their specialization rank from level 1?
Yes, Tannen can pick retrospectively. Arehzo's new character, Gannicus, is also a Fighter and so can also specialise.
Joe the Rat wrote:Are torches a viable off-hand weapon?
I've no idea how viable this would be in reality (i.e. whether a real torch would be sufficiently resilient to be routinely used as an offensive or defensive weapon), but in the interests of swashbuckling high adventure, let's say "yes". 1d3 damage when used as an offensive weapon.
