Re: Out-of-Character Chat
You'd get the XP that YOU earned as Doughbert. That's the offer I make to all newcomers who temporarily take over someone elses character. I'll let you know what this amounts to, but it's probably the majority of what Doughbert already has.Hywaywolf wrote:I have a question. If I were to roll up a new character would I have to start at 0 xp or would I keep the exp doughbert has?
Incidentally, if you are thinking of rolling-up a new character, I'm going to open-up the game's races and classes to anything "classic" (i.e. if it's in 1E AD&D, it's OK). You can use the Basic Fantasy 'Gnome' and 'Half Humans' supplements for the races. For the classes, use the 'Labyrinth Lord Advanced Edition Companion' (free at http://www.goblinoidgames.com/labyrinthlord.html) - it's more complete, more consistent and truer to the spirit of 1E than most of the Basic Fantasy supplements.

I sense the majority would rather not drag things out. However, equally, Iain has made some astute observations. I'll post a couple of more times for this adventure - once when you reach Northridge, and again when you make it back to Marketstone. You can use these opportunities to tie-up any loose ends or revisit unanswered questions.
Although there will be a short interlude before the start of Season 2, I'll keep the forum up-and-running so that you can acquire new equipment, check out items that you've looted, undertake any training, etc., etc. In that way, the "downtime" between adventures will sort itself out.

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
Has anyone made a detailed treasure list yet... some hard numbers we can update our characters with?
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
I think Joe wrote that he has been keeping track of our treasure as well as where we left it lol. I hope that meant he would tell us when we got to town. Its funny because in a FTF game or live online game I am studious about keeping track of everything - loot, weapons, people we meet, towns we visit, clues we find, etc. But in these PBP games i never write anything down. I guess I think I can just go look back and research whatever I need, but there are so many posts and pages its hard to find the minute stuff. I should do better.
Re: Out-of-Character Chat
Yes, I have kept a record of your loot. We'll sort it out at the end of this adventure.
Re: Out-of-Character Chat
I've compiled a treasure summary in the separate 'Lexicon of Loot' topic. If anyone spots any mistakes, please let me know.
Re: Out-of-Character Chat
Karl is now, effectively, an NPC. He'll return to the Marketstone smithy at the end of this adventure.Hywaywolf wrote:(OOC- Who is running karl and will he be staying with us?)
I think I mentioned this before, but if you're set on bolstering your numbers, I'd much rather add PCs than hirelings. The game has always had a waiting list, so it shouldn't be a problem to recruit. Hirelings just give the GM more to manage.
Re: Out-of-Character Chat
But hirelings don't slow down the game like having 10 PCs would. maybe each of us could could have two PC's.

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
Technically, the second level characters could bring on henchmen. PC-controlled (for the most part) hirelings. Although the prospect of Paladin running around with a loyal minion is a bit disturbing.
One or two more players shouldn't bog things down too much. Something else to consider is that if we do expand the player roster, you may want to set some sort of (reasonable) time limit on responses, and assume no reply means no significant action for that scene, or the character is on autopilot.
