I'm going to be on the road for the next 10 days -- with only spotty internet access much of the time.

Sol, I'll leave it up to you whether to temp-NPC Artie through the Excursion, or give him a reason to back out and stay on the ship, or whatever else seems appropriate.

You guys take care out there!

Cheers,

Mak

Ur. Okay.

I said from the start this would be a slow game. It hasn't been, but now it will be. Y'see, this chapter is intended to bring you all together, and has some potentially significant revelations (if it goes anything like I foresee). So I'll continue posting updates as you are able to participate, but if you can't make it, I'll have to hold.

Don't kill yourself trying to get online if it doesn't work for you. It is, after all, just a game. But I don't want to rush through this, either.

Dear all,

Sorry for the unannounced delay in my return. My time away extended a bit longer than expected and then there was some unanticipated chaos to take care of upon my return.

The upshot is that everything’s good now, with a downside: I’m transitioning out of a relatively sedentary always-at-the-computer existence for the next while, which means I don’t have a hope of being able to keep up with play-by-post gaming for the indefinite future. I regret to announce that I’ll have to retire from this one, as well as a few others I’m currently involved in.

It has been, in a word, great. It’s an honour to have participated in the first ever TSGS pbp. I didn’t think about Artie’s stats once and was frequently gripped by an amazing storyline handled by an expert GM.

But even more than the gaming I’ll miss the camaraderie of hanging around, virtually, with folks with shared interests and great imaginations.

I’ll be checking in from time to time to see how things are going, but the intervals may be quite long.

Like Rosisha’s sig says (or used to say, anyway): “Happily married, happily employed, happily gaming (in order of priority).” Right now for me the focus has to be on family and career rather than solitary pursuits. Balance shall return in time.

So it’s au revoir but not goodbye. All the best!

Cheers,

Mak

P.S. I'm truly sorry for dropping this bombshell -- it's not the way I ideally would have chosen to wind up my involvement. Thank you for understanding.

Hmm, be well Mak.
Hope everything continues on the upside for your sir.

It has definitely been a pleasure and I certainly hope to game with you in the future.

If there's ever anything a cyber-friend can do... let me know!

Wow, okay. Sorry that you won't be able to be with us anymore.

Guys, how do you want to proceed? I don't think NPCing Artie would be a good idea; I'd be happy with finding someone else willing to play the character, though undoubtedly changing players would change the character.

Mayhap someone from Roshisha's PbP? Or there has been some activity on the SGS thread on DF, we could sound out them?
Though that thread seems mostly of a Fantasy Supplement variety right now...

Artie seemed to be a key to what we are doing, but even if someone didn't want him there's plenty of NPCs to develop further... just not that G-Man, he makes Will nervous! :D
