No problem Solo, I'm leaving the computer at 3 and won't be back till around midnight. I'll try and check as soon as I get home before going to bed as I have to be up and gone by 7 in the morning, lol. Tomorrow I might be able to check briefly around 2 and then again around 11-12 when I get home again.

As I mentioned in the Posting Schedule thread, I'm waiting on Mak. He indicated he'd be traveling about a week, and that will be up tomorrow or Tuesday.

I don't feel right "NPCing" him in the first real conflict of the game.

BTW, to anyone who is interested: I've been playing Alien Arena online lately, using the handle "Solomoriah." Alien Arena is Open Source (free, if you aren't familiar with the former terminology), and is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac.

If you happen to like that sort of thing, go here:

http://icculus.org/alienarena/rpa/aquire.html

for the downloads, and then come looking for me! (But of course, if I get the chance, I'll frag you all!!!)

I'm back! -- but have just finished an 8-hour drive and it's 3 in the morning. Will read and post by 10 or 11 am CST after some shut eye!

Glad we had some time after boarding to meet the NPCs! :D
We're still on DAY ONE of the trip, no?

Good stuff.

Apparently the use of the term "heater" to mean gun came about in the 1920s. The earliest reference in the OED online is:
1929 Detective Fiction Weekly 9 Nov. 651/2 Aw, put up your heaters. If you bump me you don't git anywheres.
And there's also:
1932 W. R. BURNETT Silver Eagle i. 7 ‘He don't even pack a heater.’ ‘Don't what?’ ‘He don't carry a gun.’

Hopefully you are happy with how I played it out, cc. You and rr gave me plenty of information to decide on your actions for several rounds, and I think it works better that way.

As always, if you dispute how I resolve something (that is, how I interpret your wishes), call it out right away.
