Tommy will nod his head in appreciation and wave Simon on as to follow him. He will then head toward the ladder, if it is still dropped he will tell Simon to go on up first and then Tommy will follow. If it is not dropped, then Tommy will find a nice spot on the ground with a tree that he can lean up against and sit down and rest until the ladder comes down. Tommy does not want to start yelling about to try and get anyone's attention on the ship as it might draw unwanted attention from elsewhere.

Seeing Tommy relax, and then wave him forward, Simon slowly rises and steps forward, wincing from his injuries. Once he is sure no one is going to stick him with a spear he limps toward the airship, hoping the ladder is down. And that he will have enough strength to climb it.

As he is escorted, Artie looks for a leader among the Suran. He greets him formally, in the native tongue. If the man or woman appears receptive, Artie mentions that soon, there will be time for action.

OOC: is this down below in the airship, crew quarters, or to the surface?
Hmm. She didn't say, now did she? :D
rredmond wrote:Will shoots Catherine a smile of shared experience and says "wouldn't miss it! Is there time for me to grab some breakfast?"
"I suppose we can spare a few minutes," she replied, in a tone that said that she didn't think there were any minutes to spare. Just then, Reginald Monday called out from the lounge.

"Will! Come in here, old chap, and have my breakfast! The stewards will surely bring me another."
rredmond wrote:Whether there is time or not he will ask Emily, in a quieter tone, "What news of Artie? Anything new?"
"Nothing, I'm afraid," she replied. "Those two crewmen that went out last night haven't returned yet. I'm afraid the Germans must have gotten them."
rredmond wrote:Before moving on. If there is time to get breakfast, he'll stop over to the good doctor and Mr. Lloyd on the way, whether or not it's physically on the way. He'll take on his serious mien and ask: "Is everything alright, are there any changes in the idol?"
"No," replied Dr. Burton. "I checked it at sunup."
rredmond wrote:Whether there's time to eat or not, he will hurry to catch up with Catherine, figuring he'll get the best information from her anyway, stopping hopefully to throw some food in between two slices of bread and some juice to take on the way.
By the time he sat down in the lounge, Will found himself attended by Catherine and her father, Michael Lloyd and his wife, Reginald Monday, and Miss Emily; many other passengers seated at other tables seemed to be intently listening to the goings-on at his table as well. But after reviewing everything he could learn, Will realized he hadn't learned much... the natives were, in fact, encamped below, the other crewmen had not returned, and nobody knew anything about Artie.

Just so.

Tommy Mansel took off toward Morgana's mooring point at a trot, and Simon did his best to follow; both men were wounded, and Simon wondered at Tommy's stamina. Perhaps it's just a stiff upper lip, he thought.

As they passed through the encamped tribesmen, Simon noted that they seemed surprisingly relaxed and calm, much as they had after the attack of the previous night. He wondered at this... surely savages would find the "lightnings" they fought with fearful. Shouldn't they be anxious?

The ladder removed all such thoughts from his mind, at least temporarily. It was hard going, climbing the ladder, and Simon was relieved to reach the top. Chief Engineer Green awaited them both at the top. "The Captain wants to talk to you as soon as possible, but you fellows both need a bit of mending first. Somehow we managed to set sail without a ship's doctor, but fortunately Carlo and Vedette Silvani are in the business. He's a medical student, she's a nurse, you see. They've volunteered to help with anyone injured; knock at room ten if they aren't in the lounge, and they'll tend your wounds. Then the Captain will see you in his quarters."

Artie looked around as Sullivan (if that was, in fact, his name, which seemed unlikely to Artie) conversed with the other officer. There were no natives standing close by, and those Artie could see appeared to be warriors. Finally Sullivan turned back to Artie. "Commander Stockhausen seems to think we don't need you," he said. "Doesn't think we need to talk to the savages. He wants to use you as a hostage to get the dirigible under his control; he won't hesitate to kill you if he thinks it will serve his purposes. I think he's being shortsighted, but it's not my place to decide. For security reasons, he doesn't want you on the ship, so I'm to put you with the other captives."

With that, Sullivan motioned, and two armed sailors took up positions behind Artie; then, Sullivan led the party to the largest hut in the village, which was guarded by several more sailors. Sullivan gestured toward the cloth-covered entrance. "In, please, Mister Evans. I'll see to it you are fed shortly, and perhaps I can convince the Commander of your value before he decides to use you as a bargaining chip."

As Simon was first to go up the ladder, Tommy will allow him to continue to lead the way to room 10, providing that is where he is headed. If nobody answers, then it is off to the lounge to see if they can be found. After being patched up Tommy will wait for Simon and then head off to the Captain.

Simon slips the rifle from its perch on his back and hands it questionally to Mr. Green, "Do you think you can get this cleaned up while I am getting patched up. She went for another swim tonight". If Mr. Green takes the rifle, Simon will go get doctored.

Artie squinted as he did as he was told. "Something I don't understand: don't you guys want to get home? I mean, I understand that you are nazis, and hate everything, but surely you love your families? If that's the case, why wouldn't you seek any help you can get? Oh, and what do I call you? I feel foolish calling you Mr. Sullivan, and it's not like giving out your real name can hurt you out here..."

Simon went up second; officers before enlisted, you know.

Green frowned just a bit at Simon's impertinence, but refrained from chastising him. "Certainly," he said instead.

Simon and Tommy ascended to the passenger deck, where they found Carlo and Vedette Silvani in their quarters. "Ah," said Carlo when he saw the bedraggled airmen, "let us go to, how you say, room two. The stewards, they have assigned it to us for medical use."

Carlo elected to attend to Tommy's injuries, while Vedette saw to Simon; she did not speak to him, but it seemed to Simon that every time she looked at his face, she blushed. Just shy, I guess, he thought.

"Il Capitano wanted to see you, I think," said Carlo bruskly when he had finished with Tommy.

Will allowed Catherine to precede him into the passageway, then nearly ran headlong into Leftenant Mansel as he exited room two.

"Home?" replied the German. "It is just a few day's sail away. We have suffered some sort of navigational problem, though, and so the Commander intends to confiscate your navigational gear to help us find our way back to familiar shores."
Nazim wrote:"Oh, and what do I call you? I feel foolish calling you Mr. Sullivan, and it's not like giving out your real name can hurt you out here..."
"Hauptmann Gerald Seiler," said the German, smiling, "of the Luftwaffe." For the first time, Artie heard a hint of a German accent in his voice. "Now, in you go!"

Hauptmann Seiler, as it seemed his name was, gave Artie a push, propelling him into the hut. It took Artie a few moments before he could see clearly in the relative gloom inside, but even before he could see them, he recognized the presence of a large group of children. They spoke to each other in low voices, and those words he managed to overhear, Artie understood perfectly.

"It is a sky god! It is!" cried one child, and "what does this mean," said another, and "we are lost," and "it isn't a sky god, it's just another sea demon." Many other things were said which Artie could not hear plainly.

Then he heard one voice, clear and girlish, above the others. "You are Bey, aren't you?" she asked.

Simon noted Mr. Green's frown and wondered how long much longer he could keep up this crewmember facade. It seems his natural tendency to lead was starting to show up again. He didn't need any more complications than he already had if he hoped to get out of whatever mess this is (where ever this is). He'd have to be more careful in the future.

Speaking of complications, what is going on with this Vedette lady. He didn't know much about her, but now that he had a chance to get a better look at her .... Simon stopped that line of thinking before he got himself into deeper trouble. Carlo's brusk behavior reminded him that he'd more than likley be back here with more wounds. He didn't want to make the man with the surgeons knife mad at him.

Still, he thought as the light through the window silhouetted Vedette's face, she is a pretty lass. Don't want to burn any bridges, yet.

"Thank you, Vedette," he says as he gets up. "You have a skilled and subtle hand at healing. I should be fit enough to fight again and find a way to get you back home again. Are you ready, Tommy?" Then with a nod to Tommy to make sure he was ready, Simon will turn out of teh cabin to seek the captain.
