Here's a top-down view. Tommy is on the red circle, Simon on the blue, and the German on the green.

If the sounds are coming from the side of the river that Tommy is on, then he will quietly and quickly make his way to the other side of the tower. If Simon manages to see Tommy then he will whisper "Hide" to him. Tommy will then wait a bit and see what happens. If nothing happens, then he will attempt to climb up where Simon is, however, if something happens or something gives Tommy the indication that there really is someone there, then Tommy will do something else.

Hywaywolf wrote:Simon quietly lowers the guard to the deck deep in the shadows (or under a tarp, behind a locker, or whatever I can find to hide the body, if that's possible.) and strips him of his jacket and headgear.
As Tommy quietly slipped around the trailing edge of the conning tower, Simon grabbed the German's hat; he was wearing no jacket, which, given the warm, humid tropical night, was not surprising.

There wasn't time to do more, though, as cries of warning and spears flew through the night. Two of the spears struck Tommy in the legs, driving him backwards off the deck and into the river. The warm water stung in his wounds, but despite his limited experience in the water he was able to reach the surface. He shook his head to clear it, and heard incomprehensible exclamations from the natives as well as a few equally incomprehensible outcries in German.

Simon, hunched down in the top of the conning tower, wondered if he had been overlooked...

Simon will drag the German over the top of the conning tower hatch and try to jam it shut he will add his own weight to it if it starts to open. Then he will wait to hear what is happening. If he hears any sound on the gangplank or any indication that people are boarding the sub, he will peak over to see whats happening. If it looks like anyone will be trying to get in range to shoot Tommy, he will start shooting to stop it. If after 30 seconds he doesn't hear anything, he will peak out to see what is happening

OCC: How bad is Tommy injured? Can he walk, swim, stand, or is he badly injured and can't really do anything? Are the spears stuck in him or did they graze him? You just said they struck him, but didn't say how badly.

If the cries are coming from the other side of the boat, then Tommy will attempt to get to shore and find a hiding spot as best he can.

If the cries are coming from in front of him, then depending on how badly injured he is and if he has spears in his legs or not, he will either raise his hands and surrender or he will attempt to take a deep breath and go below water and swim down stream underwater and get away from them. Again, depends on how bad his injuries are.

Taking stock of his situation, Tommy found his injuries to be fairly minor.

Which shore? Upstream or downstream of the U-boat on the near side, or fifty yards across to the other side?

OCC: Are the natives and Germans on the opposite side of the Uboat from where Tommy is?

If they are on the opposite side, Tommy will attempt to swim to the nearest shore and run for the trees as best he can, as long as he doesn't suspect any to be waiting for him on that side. If he suspects someone to be on that nearest side and on the other side of the Uboat, then Tommy will attempt to swim downstream, and if they start threatening him or shooting/throwing things at him, then he will give himself up as to not get killed. He is hoping that the natives and Germans are on the opposite side of the Uboat and thus cannot see him when he comes to shore and thus making the mad dash for cover behind trees.

It appears that I need to draw you guys a picture. So here it is:

Image

The red dot is where Simon is standing, atop the conning tower (see the earlier picture for more detail). The purple dot is Tommy. The orange dots are where Simon thinks he sees Suran natives, but it's rather dark and they are all moving around... and the ones on the right are right where Simon and Tommy came through the shadows. If they weren't moving, Simon wouldn't see them at all.

You don't know where the German(s) are who are yelling; they might be mixed in with the natives.

OCC: Thank you for the drawing, it makes it much easier to understand.

Tommy will attempt to swim to the far shore away from where the spears came from. Before starting to swim he will shout to Simon, "Forget it, we'll try again with more forces, try and jump into the water." Tommy will then take off swimming, and hoping to hear a splash behind him from Simon. If, when he gets to shore there is nobody there, then he will attempt to run for cover (behind trees, a big rock, etc.). If he finds anyone on shore when he gets there then his actions will be different.
