Ok, the plan sort of worked, but Arkus was hoping for a bit of a head start.
He backs away slowly from the giant towards the nearest road leading from the square, all the while trying to dodging the brute's blows.

Also, he attempts to distract his opponent, hoping for an opportunity to slip away.
Looking past the giant's legs in front of him:

"Hey, your goblin friends are making off with all the loot!"

The giant turns around in time to see the goblins run into the church, as well as the cloaked figure and the mercenaries moving towards it. It bellows in anger.

At the same moment, several armed villagers (most likely part of the local militia) rush into the square from behind the companions.

(OOC:

Kg, you're up. The giant can't do anything else until its turn comes around again. It's now everybody up against one angry giant. I also rolled initiative for, and added the militia forces to the initiative sequence. However, they won't act until the next round of combat, so even though they are on the sequence directly after Phelan, we will skip by them this round.

Initiative sequence:
Barros: 5
Cloaked figure: 4
Giant: 4
Mercenaries: 3
Arkus: 3
Phelan: 2-current turn
Militia forces: 2
Cael: 1)

"We had better take some shots while we have the chance. I want to spend as little time as possible fighting hand to hand with that brute," Phelan shouts. She loads a stone into her sling and takes out her mirror. After seeing how easily Arkus' shot was batted out of the air, she hopes she can blind the giant with her mirror long enough to get a hit with her sling.

occ: Phelan rolls a 15 (including dex and attack bonus). Of course if getting out her mirror and sling takes too long she may not have a chance to get a shot off before the giant is too close

The giant blinks at the light reflecting from the mirror. However, it keeps coming on, seeming unaffected. Phelan is able to get her shot off though. Phelan's sling bullet does graze the brute's stomach, but it shrugs it off.

The militia forces move towards the combat, weapons drawn.

Meanwhile, Cael charges the giant, and slashes at it with his blade. Alas, the steel is turned aside by the beast's tough hide.

(OOC:

We are now entering the next round of combat. The militia forces will arrive on this round, and be able to attack when their turn comes around.

Hexamer, you're up.

Initiative sequence:
Barros: 5-current turn
Cloaked figure: 4
Giant: 4
Mercenaries: 3
Arkus: 3
Phelan: 2
Militia forces: 2
Cael: 1)

If there is a spear lying near enough, Barros will grab it and hurl it at the giants face in the hopes of doing some damage. If not, he will charge for the giant, aiming to go underneath him with a swing at his Achilles tendon on one of his ankles. (Long shot at best).

If those are not possible, then it's just a throw of the shield at the giants head.

(Barros rolled a 17, no dex bonus)

Barros sees no spear, so he charges the giant, and slashes it's lower leg with his sword. He misses the ankle by a small bit, but his blade still cuts into the creature's flesh.

(OOC: roll for damage Hexamer)

The giant roars again in increased rage following Barros's strike. The cloaked figure and the mercenaries are now upon the giant, and the cloaked figure slashes out with his blade, but the tough skin of the giant turns it away.

The giant retaliates, and brings his club down on one of the mercenaries, reducing the poor victim's head and upper torso to a crushed mess. The mercenary falls, dead before he hits the ground.

The last mercenary wildly stabs at the giant, and manages to graze its leg.

The militia forces are now spreading out to encircle the giant.

Rhialto, you're up.

Cloaked figure: 4

Mercenary: 3

Seeing that everybody is now fighting the giant, Arkus moves some steps further away from the melee and tries to hit the brute in the head with a sling bullet.

He also complains: "I bet you, the real culprits are in the church. You should have gone after them and let me handle the giant!"

OOC: to hit 16+3=19, for 3 damage.

Phelan, seeing that the sling is a fruitless effort, charges in with her war hammer and swings at the brute with all her might (that is, if she can).

OCC: D20= 12 (including strength and attack bonus)
