Guess I assumed that there would be gambling during the duels. Go Tanya, 2 crowns is most of my remaining coins. :D

Go Tanya! I'm still learning how Metro does combat. When we work it out, I'll post in OOC so everyone learns (unless it's just me new to this approach). As it stands now, Tanya loses unglamorously and quite painfully in round 5. Hope for good dice rolls!

With your dice rolls (If I read it correctly) Tanya soundedly thrashes Ludlem by round two.

Combat is the same combat but we are just doing rolls for 5 rounds. I do 5 rounds of rolls for the opponent, you do 5 rounds of rolls for Tanya then we compare the results of each round to see who did what mechanically.

I gave you Ludlem's actions for each round so you can shape your descriptions against Ludlem's (this is to speed up any combat) and once we have it to each satifisfaction, the winner will post the summary.

Ok cool. I understand it. Posting the details here so others can see:

Raw: Metroknight rolls repeat 5 1d6-1; 1d20+2; 1d1+2 = 0; 12; 3; 1; 8; 3; 0; 12; 3; 3; 12; 3; 5; 22; 3 (1 - 1);(10 + 2);(1 + 2);(2 - 1);(6 + 2);(1 + 2);(1 - 1);(10 + 2);(1 + 2);(4 - 1);(10 + 2);(1 + 2);(6 - 1);(20 + 2);(1 + 2) #Ludlem the lumbering ox

Round 1
Initiative 0, hits AC 12, damage 3
Round 2
Initiative 1, hits AC 8, damage 3
Round 3
Initiative 0, hits AC 12, damage 3
Round 4
Initiative 3, hits AC 12, damage 3
Round 5
Initiative 5, hits AC 22, damage 4 (crit hit)

I rolled 6 + 14 + 17 + 17 + 2, though in retrospect it should have been 10d20 since she'll want to dual wield. Her initiative rolls with her DEX bonus are 5 + 7 + 7 + 6 + 3.

Ludlem's AC is 13.

Round 1: She misses with her main hand (6), and almost lands a lucky blow with her offhand (12).

Round 2: She hits with her main hand (17) and her offhand (15). Damage for each is 2 (1+1), so Ludlam is -4 hp.

(refresh d20: 15 + 20 + 18 + 16 + 16)
Round 3: She misses with her main hand (2) and (omg I want to save these rolls) finishes off the bout with a 13; round 4 20+16, etc.

I'm using http://www.brockjones.com/dieroller/dice.htm for dice rolling.

And ow, being flung into the crowd by your crotch?!

stitching this together:

Tanya: AC 15
Ludlam: AC 12

Round 1:
Tanya, initiative 5, rolls 6+12; both misses
Ludlam, initiative 0, rolls 12; misses

Round 2:
Tanya, initiative 7, rolls 17+15; two hits for 4 hp
Ludlam is defeated.

I'll write up an appropriate victory. JW, I hope you got good odds!

This will also be probably the way we will do combat for the whole game.

Declare action for each round for a total of 5 actions then make the rolls. After that adjust descriptions for each round depending on the actual rolls and the combat summary gets posted.

Now we can discuss how we want to handle future combat. Make it a group effort or keep combat individual?

Woe and the rest of you, I'm very happy if you all wish to control the scene. As long as everything fits in thematically and the npc's follow their personality, I'm more than happy to let any of you control the npc's and add to the scene.

Take for example the aftermath of the duel. It was perfect, Woe caught the personality of Valon just right as he is an old soldier that is protective of his students. He reacts to situations just like a soldier would handle it which is in combat, a good enemy is a dead enemy.

Ludlem is a big bully that has a mean vicious streak a mile wide and Woe hit it out of the ballpark with that interaction. He has given me a future hook to work with so Tanya might want to keep an eye on her back in the future.

I can not stress it enough that I enjoy my players taking an active stance in building the story instead of taking a reactive stance to my building a story. While I have ideas and plans (overall arc based on a selection of collected adventures from the AA1 pdf), it is you all that will give me something to work with past those adventures.

Best way to put it, you are building the future of the game through the creation and interaction of the scenes now.

Sorry for this but something has happened in my personal life and I have to excuse myself. It sounded like a fun game, but stuff happens. Enjoy and I'm sorry.
