The dragon stares at YC blankly for a monent and then grins. It doesn't say anything. Its breath smells pretty bad.

The ship has weighed anchor and isn't moving either. What do you do?

Jaali bows too.

"Jaali at your service. How can be of any help to you, Lord ?"

After this from Jaali and several oyther attempts at communication, it becomes apparent that the dragon either can't talk or isn't talking.

It descends again and circles underwater, coming back up in a few moments.

This will continue through the night. You can wait out and see what happens, or take some action (moving the boat, attacking the dragon, etc). I'll assume no action if no one posts for a few days.

Jaali will wake up Maju when the dragon gets ib the water the second time. He sounds worried, almost panicked.

"Come on the deck quick ! Come on the deck quick ! Your magic is needed there !"

(I'm thinking of ESP here)

Roused, Maju runs on deck as quickly as he can. He doesn't see anything (since the creature is underwater).

The situation is now that Rostam is fully armored and everyone is on deck. The sea dragon is submergeing periodically and then coming back up again, staring at you, sometimes grinning. Every now and again steam comes from its nostrils.

You can cast ESP Maju but bear in mind if you can't understand the creature's language, what it might be thinking will mean little to you.

You guys can wait, or act, whatever you like. I'll leave this here for a bit before moving on.

Maju thinks that if the creature could speak to the group, it would have already done that. He remains at the ready, but doesn't act.

Let us be extra vigilant until morning. But there is no need we all stay awake. Maybe some can sleep on deck, in case the beast decides to attack the ship?

Rostam clearly intends to stand guard until dawn himself, though.
