While Maju is (more or less) unable to help much, he's in favor of approaching the shore if the rest of the party wants to.

I like this not at all. But we are here now, let's get closer.

Jaali will charge his pistol, trying not to get the attention of the orcs, in case the approach goes badly

Seems like a decision to move closer...

The results are a disaster. The approach is mistimed and several key strength rolls by the rowers are failed (a 1 and a 2).

The boat is swept against some rocks and nearly capsizes.

Maju, Jaali and the merchant's assistant rower are now all in the water.

Jaali, your pistol is now wet.

Elias, the monk and the paladin are still in the boat. The paladin has one oar, the other is now unmanned.

The orcs (now about 30 feet away) watch on in bemusement. They weren't attacking you, but had javelins drawn. Still, they watch as your boat surges around in the surf.

The paladin spots some planks of wood floating on the water and wonders if the orcs may also have had a craft of some kind before getting stuck on the ledge.

Still not in combat but I need responses from everyone.

YC will grab anyone close enough and pull them back in the boat. If nobody is close enough, he will grab the other oar and help Rostam get the boat over to where the others are.

Sorry YC, my post wasn't clear. You are pretty strong, so I had you placed at one oar. The merchant's assistant Coroban was placed at the other oar, and he went over the side. If you abandon your oar, the longboat will really flounder.

If Rostam is not rowing, he will help the others to get back into the boat.
To the rowers:
Try to stay away from the rocks.
