The main group moves another 30 yards until it reaches the crest, and then stops to survey the scene. Rostam also keeps moving and reaches the crest.

The pirate lord is now 290 yards away, riding at full pelt away from you. There are 2 people on the camel, himself and another, probably Ash.

The efreeti is closing in on the pirate invisibly, and will attack next round or the one after.

(The efreet has moved 320 yards in 2 rounds and is now only 60 yards from the pirate mage...)

Keep moving? Stay and watch the show?

Teruk speaks to his men guarding Saracen: Take him into the jungle and wait for us. At the slightest hint of trouble, kill him.

Teruk then speaks to his elite fighters: Spread out. We will try to flank them. Make sure nothing gets past you. We must protect our homeland.

DM: :) OK. The ten 1st level fighters were already some distance behind you, but we can ret-con that. You have given them orders to kill Saracen at the slightest hint of trouble!

Rostam keeps on struggling behind the camel at full speed, hoping to get close enough for a shot with the rifle. Maybe the efreet will slow Jab-Afri down.

Just waiting on Maju.

Incidentally, are you on the dinosaur? If so, who is on it? Two is suggested, three is maximum. Perhaps the paladin is on the dinosaur, and therefore, the movement rates are not an issue?

Maju, still riding Kyo, continues onward while urging the men forward. He expects that the efreeti will attack the pirate mage sometime soon…

OOC: I still think this is the mage's most vulnerable moment, and that we should take advantage of it. My only hope is that we can get close enough in time to finish him off if the efreeti isn't up to the task.

Also, I'm not sure who is with Maju on Kyo. But I don't mind if others are there too.

All right then.

ROUND 2

The group assembled move 60 more yards down the sand ridge, on the dinosaur, and with the villagers spreading out on either side.

The camel moves 100 yards and is now 330 yards from you.

The efreeti moves 160 yards and can attack at the start of the next round.

ROUND 3

The pirate mage is surprised when the efreeti attacks. So is Ash. The efreeti attacks and hits the pirate king, doing 13 a big hit points!

The two characters on the camel then win initiative and you can all see the pirate king attack the efreeti with a huge lightning bolt which does it 36 hit points! The lizard man Ash also attacks the efreeti, and misses.

During this round you all move within 270 yards.

The efreet decides to bale out on this mission, as his life is at risk. He vanishes (and moves backwards 80 yards.)

ROUND 4
Initiative:
Your team
The pirates
The efreet (last)

The pirates on the camel have slowed up to fight the efreet. They are 270 yards away. You might have missile weapons that would put you in range of a shot on them now. Or you could just keep chasing them and move at 60. Teruk and his men can move at 80 but they'd be ahead of you pretty quick.

Teruk watches Maju. He wants to order a retreat but waits to see what magic will come.

Does that mean you slowed down or did you keep moving?

OOC: @Longman: if you are ok with it, Rostam would be riding the dinosaur with Maju. And I have no better idea than to keep going as fast as we can.

Unless Maju wants to give that pilfered speed potion to the beast.
But I think that won't last long enough to do any good.

They are barely within range but we'll lose them if we stop.
We'll lose them anyway if we can't slow them down.

Rostam would be pulling his beard now if he didn't need both hands to hold on to the dinosaur and the rifle.

Maju calls out over the desert, "Jab Afri! We have your sea elf apprentice! If you run now, you doom him to certain death!"

OOC: This might be a mistake…

ROUND 4

Nice try Maju, but he's too far away to hear you. You'd need to get within 200 yards for that to work.

I think Teruk and his men stopped (not sure). The dinosaur moves on 60 yards. The camel also moves. The distance apart is now 310 yards.

Teruk, one of your rangers (Daro) has spotted something moving in the sky behind you, back towards the jungle.

At the end of the round, a Wall of Fire springs up around the camel. It has a radius of 25 feet. All inside are assumed to have taken some damage.

The efreeti becomes visible again (as Wall of Fire is an attack spell) about 180 yards back from the centre of the ring. That means he is 130 yards from your location.

ROUND 5 - initiative order is the same
