An attempted ambush at the dunes seems to be the way to go. Maju will keep Taku with him. But he'll keep an eye out, since he has the falcon's distance vision when she's with him.

OK - once again I will wait a bit for Rhialto to confirm but that seems like it's going ahead.

Timeline:
You left the ruins at 10.30
(The battle at the ruins is about about midday)
An hour and a half later, at midday, you bird notified you that the whirlwind was coming.
The whirlwind vs efreet battle took place at about 12.30.
The efreet returned at about 1pm.
You will join in battle at the dunes at about 1.30.
Here's what happens. You are moving along towards the low dunes, with the dinosaur, and are about 90 yards from it, when several rangers alert you to the fact that there is the noise of a camel climbing the dunes, on the other side.
So, you have heard the camel. Chances are good the pirate mage heard you. (There are a whole lot of you here.)
The ambush didn't quite work. You are 90 yards from the rise. The enemy is over it, somewhere. (Movement rates all in in yards outdoors).
What do you all do? The cleric Elias will follow a strong lead.

Maju says, "Laylat AlHariq, it is time to attack. Seek out the pirate mage and destroy him. Stay invisible for as long as you can so as to make a sneak attack. Your utmost goal is to destroy him. However, as much as is possible, do not damage his belongings - they may be useful to us. Now go."
To everyone else, Maju says, "Victory here will reside with the bold. Teruk, assign some of your men to guard the sea-elf. Don't hesitate to kill him if need be. As for the rest of us, we need to spread out to protect ourselves from the mage's spells…and charge!"
Maju goads Kyo forward to charge the dunes in pursuit of Jab Al-Afri.
OOC: Quick question - how many of us are there?

You have:
Maju
Rostam
Elias
A charmed dinosaur
Teruk, Fighter 5
Chopa, Ranger 2
Daro, Ranger 2
3 3rd level fighters:
2 2nd level fighters
10 1st level fighters
You could leave the 1st level guys with Saracen? They're looking kinda cannon-fodderish and have maybe 8 or 9 hp each.

Yes, let the young men guard the prisoner.
And if things go badly, let them abandon him and spread out so that some may survive.
Rostam will load the rifle and then march straight up the dune, ready to shoot some pirate (or to present the most likely target for hostile spells, at least).
Ohrmazd be with us!

ROUND ONE
The 10 1st level warriors take the sea-elf further away from the combat (and move 40).
The main group move 60 yards up the hill. Rostam, you move 40 as you are in the armor now. (Unless Maju wants to move at your pace?)
The efreeti will move at 160, and is invisible anyway so you don't know what's happening with him...
You can't hear any sounds of combat at the end of the round. You don't know what the pirate mage has done.
Round 2 - your go. I will declare initiative order once you engage properly.

If the others aren't waiting, Rostam will keep struggling up the dune as fast as possible.

Maju continues on Kyo. He keeps a sharp eye out - especially for footprints in the sand. He calls out to the the others, "Keep a wary eye for them. If they have become invisible by some devilry, their footprints should still be visible in the sand."
