After the Bear is killed, Maju thanks the warriors and attempts to comfort the survivors as best he can. Once he sees that things are settled, he goes to see if he can find Kyo.

Maju was quite shaken with the encounter with the bear. That night he decides to study some more overt, combat-oriented spells. He doesn't like it, and he hasn't used Lightning Bolt since his former master taught it to him, but he memorizes it anyway. He reflects that everyone here knows he's a Magic User anyway…

OOC: I've updated Maju's character sheet to reflect the new spells. Seeing as we're out in the bush again (the very dangerous bush), he has taken 3xMagic Missile, Continual Light/Darkness, and Lightning Bolt. He's keeping Charm Person and Web form before. If he can't find Kyo, he'll go down to the meet up with the others. Otherwise, he'll stay where he's at.

Maju can track down Kyo after another jaunt in the jungle....about twenty minutes later.

So, it is the next day - he has learned the new spells, and the rest of the beach or pier.

Let me know how the plan unfolds - rope, canoes etc. If no one does it, I'll do it tomorrow.

OK, I feel like I'm leading you by the nose, but this seems to be your plan:

I'm only counting 250 of rope - silk or otherwise - on all characters, plus 50 for Apinya equals 300. But the villagers have some of their own, although it is made of woven palm leaves, it seems pretty sturdy. They use it for their fishing nets. You can get together 450' in total. They do not mind lending it to you.

Saracen is entering the water off the pier and Kanya, Apinya, Jaali and YC are all standing at the end, with the 2 strongest holding on. He is swimming out and then down to the wreck.

Leaving this plan another day and then going with it.

I don't like all of us on the pier. I think Yuan-Cheng and Jaali should scout out the area stealthily.

DM: OK. You two guys are back exploring the beach area, unless Jaali says otherwise. There are quite a lot of villagers back there too, getting ready to leave.

Done. Looking for anything in particular? There are the old foundations of about 4 buildings in the area near the base of the pier but nothing much else. You can go looking along the beach, or hang near the villagers?

Well, SG has posted in Chit Cat and no response here, so we have to assume he is OK with the plan...

The elf strips down to his scimitar and splashes into the water, swimming out with ease to the drop off, like a fish on a lead, or perhaps, a very strange bait. The two Siamese pirates hold the rope, and some villagers watch on.

He swims down into the clear water, but after about 250 feet, the light gets rather dim, and his infravision kicks in. He swims about for a bit looking for the wreck, and eventually locates it.

The ship must have been about 350 feet long - huge in this era. It also seems to have been made entirely of metal. Much of it is badly rusted but the structure is still just intact.

Image

The sea-elf is pondering how a metallic ship wouldn't just sink, and getting closer to investigate, when a large sea-serpent enters his field of vision from the left, and rushes towards him, mouth open to attack. It's only about 30 feet away by the time he can react.

Saracen wins initiative. What does he do?

Saracen casts Phantasmal force to make a slightly larger sea serpent appear from the side and attack the serpent that is attacking him.

Saracen can't exactly make the illusion larger than the creature attacking him, because it is 30' long, and the maximum length of the illusion is only 20'.

So instead he creates the image of a rather box-like sea serpent, short but very wide, attacking from the side. The illusion works extremely well to begin with. The fake sea serpent misses its attack, but the real sea serpent falls for the trick and falls into combat with the illusion, about 20 feet in front of the amused sea elf.

Unfortunately his entertainment is short-lived. The next round, he is attacked from behind by another sea serpent, who comes out of nowhere and bites him on the backside, doing 6 hit points - taking him to 17.

In the same round, the first sea serpent attacks the illusion and hits it. This dispels the illusion. Shame about that because it was a neat idea...

It is now Saracen's turn again. (He lost initiative in round 2). He is engaged with one serpent, and another is 20' away and is turning on him. What does he do?

Your go, then it's round 3...

I cast invisibility and then tug on the rope.
