Well, I have just looked up the STRONGHOLD rules and you guys have a decision to make.

You can effectively use the concrete beam as a battering ram if you can get 8 people using it. To do that, you would have to move several monkeys and several of their pedestals out of the way to give you enough space to do a run up.

Are you going to do that?

Is it possible to have a "stand in place" battering ram opposed to a "running start" ram? I'm not looking forward to moving those pedestals.

Maju thinks it's a bad idea to move any of the statues.

YC will tap each step of the stairs, trying to find a hollow step.

Kanya agrees. Time to think of a new plan.

Wish I had known that before lugging down the column. :(

Oops. I done goofed. You are not in the hall of the apes, but rather in the room with monkeys on slabs and weird tubes going into their arms.

I've decided you can just move some glass tanks out of the way, but not any bodies. So you're OK.

Here's what happens, rules-wise. You need no attack roll with the battering ram, but you only do damage about half the time, and then only an average of about 3 points per hit, and you'll do damage about once a minute. The door has 90 hit points, so it's going to take you about half an hour to bash it down.

You get about twenty minutes into this process - and the concrete ram still hasn't broken - when one of the guards left upstairs with Kyo and the gear, comes back down the stairs and says to Teruk:

"Lord Teruk...I think that Zargh has run away into the desert. He isn't in the ruins any more. He must have gone invisible and sneaked off. Do you want us to follow him? Even a blind man could see his footprints. He's going north."

Apinya hears this, and tells Kanya. Maju can also understand it: Saracen has run away.

"Oh schnizbucket." Kanya thinks hard for a moment, then, "Let's get this door down quick then. I'll need to go fetch him. I'd appreciate some of Teruk's men going with us."

OK, you get the door down after 10 more minutes.

The monk and thief are now free. Congrats on saving Jalli's potion of gaseous form.

Now what? The elf Saracen has run away about 20 minutes ago, you think. He's probably in banded armor so you might be able to catch him still - especially the monk.

It's still pretty early in the day.

I need you guys to move forward now. I have one, maybe two players waiting to join.
