Jaali will shoot one of the ghouls with his pistol. Is there one already wounded ? If so, I'll pick this one. Otherwise, the nearest.

The round occurs:

- Rangers flee back around the corner and grab more spears from the cowardly rear guard, and then move into position to throw them. But in the end there is no need.

Maju calms the dinosaur and rights its path, then fires his magic missile at at a ghoul and it explodes. Saracen, from the rear aims a magic missile at another ghoul, and it is electrified and falls to the ground with smoke coming off it. Both are finished.

- The 2 remaining ghouls decide to flee, grabbing a random victims out of the pack of 9. It is a 1st level warrior called Joka.

- Kanya has moved back off the path and tried to turn the already fleeing ghouls. This roll is a fail.

- Jaali shoots at the feeling ghouls. He misses narrowly.

Apinya reloads.

The cowardly rear guard remain cowardly.

Your go. The fight can be over, or, you can chase them down and finish them. The villagers may not give chase, so it would likely be up to Maju and Jaali, as they probably are the only ones fast enough to get the creatures before they disappear.

If they aren't too far away, I'll cast Darkness on the one carrying Joka. Otherwise, I'll look for infection on those who were bitten.

Jaali will look around from the top of his tree to nake sure the noise didn't attrack any creature. If he doesn't see anything odd, he will climb down from the tree.

Still stinging that some of Teruk's men were lost in the recent bear attack, Maju resolves to not let him lose any others. He spurs Kyo on toward the fleeing ghouls.

OOC: Maju will attempt to use his pistols first - as long as he can do that without the danger of accidentally shooting the hostage. Otherwise (and missing those two shots) he still has two uses of Magic Missile left. If the pistols fail, he'll use those.

The Cleric wins for initiative.

If you (Kanya) ran forward 20 yards to look at the victims, the ghouls are in spell range. So, I'm saying you cast Darkness this round and you see it envelop them. They are 25 yards from you when this happens. You can clearly hear the ghouls chittering to one another and continuing to move. It doesn't sound like it has caused them to fall, but has maybe slowed them up a bit.

From behind the Cleric, the dinosaur emerges from the woods and charges down the path, forcing her to scoot out of the way. The creature moves at 60, meaning that the wizard and the sea-elf arrive at the edge of the patch of darkness, which is now blocking the road.

Kyo makes morale and will continue to run the creatures down next round, through the darkness.

Jaali is now down from the tree and about 20 yards away from the darkness.

Saracen was about to shoot, but cannot see them.

As for Maju, he can shoot next round if he see the creatures - but that may involve losing control of the dinosaur. You can shoot, or you can keep your hands about her neck and stay safe.

Your move again. Kanya may start checking the victims. The Bo staff is still lying on the ground neat the monk's leader. Some of the dead ghouls appear to have some ancient-looking jewelry.

There's also a paralyzed Yuan-Cheng laying on the ground.

DM: Yes. You'll be out for a while, old chum. But if it helps, there's no visible signs of infection from your ghoul bite, at this early stage.

For the next few rounds, Kanya will:
- end the darkness
- properly kill the stunned ghoul
- stabilize the wounded
- check the wounded for immediate signs of infection
- ensure the valuables (YC's sword, the bo staff, jewelry) don't walk off before properly inventoried

New factoid about Kanya's religious following: her sect hates undead, mainly because they are immune to pain.

Isn't Saracen on the camel, not the dinosaur? Or is Spitzbreath is charging like a proper war stallion? :o

DM: Oh crap. I forgot Saracen was on the camel. Let's just edit that and say he was on Kyo. It's easier now.

Maju will continue to attempt to chase down the ghouls. He won't shoot. If he thinks he can get a clear path toward trampling the ghouls without danger of hurting their hostage, he'll do that. Otherwise he'll use Magic Missile (he still has two uses left). Oh yeah - if the darkness is still cast, he'll pull out a lightstone to counter it.
