Yuan Cheng runs up to Teruk and the forward line of warriors and holds his hands out at the charging monks:

STOP!

Even though the advancing monks turn out to be GHOULS, I'm allowing him a reaction roll, just to slow them up for a round, as their ancient monky memories kick in, just for a moment.

Unfortunately his roll is terrible and they throw back their hoods and attack!



Teruk and YC are not surprised but Teruk's 7 men are rooted to the ground in horror, this round.

Teruk easily kills the ghoul's leader, a tall woman who may once have been female.

Yuan-Cheng notes with amazement that she was still wielding a Jo Stick, carved in holy runes of his order. He think he know who this woman may once have been...

Yuan Cheng may either fight, or take another move action this round. If he flees, 2-4 ghould will get parting shots. He cannot withdraw as it is a full round action and he has already moved.

Jaali may have a full round action (move up to corner and observe, shoot? Sneak through forest?)

Maju has sent his bird aloft this round. It will report back next round.

Kanya has dismounted and lumbered 20 yards to the corner. Still a move action to go before she gets get to the corner. Apinya is going with her.

Saracen sits tight on the camel. The rear guard stays put for the moment as well, making sure the attack is not also from the rear.

If you wish, you may all post your actions for the next round. I just need to know what the monk does with the second half of the current round. Then it will be the ghouls' turn to attack...and then the new round.

Yuan-Cheng despairs inside as he sees what his fellow monks have turned into. He resolves to destroy them before they cause any more damage in this place.

He attacks, and will keep attacking until he falls.

OOC: Assuming Maju can hear a ruckus from around the corner.

Maju spurs Kyo forward, to attempt to get around the corner to see what's happening.

OOC: My ultimate goal is to see if Maju can convince Kyo to simply charge and trample the ghouls. @DM: Please let me know if this is overreaching. If so, I'll come up with something else.

Jaali will sneak into the woods and will climb on a tree where he can get a good shooting angle for the next round.

I'll deal with the monk first.

He attacks a ghoul, and hits it twice with his fists of doom, knocking it down and senseless.

Then the remaining 6 ghouls attack. Teruk is hit, for 6 hit points, a mere scratch.

YC is also attacked, and hit twice, with a claw and a bite. He takes 5 hit points. He fails his second saving throw, and falls into a deep, torpor like state almost at once. He's still standing, but cannot move or think clearly.

Two more warriors are also paralyzed, taking 6 and 3 hp in the process. Another warrior takes 3 hit points only.

Round 2

Unfortunately for you guys, the ghouls win the initiative by a clear margin, and keep attacking. Teruk takes another 5 hp and is paralysed (15/36 hp total for Teruk). ALL of the remaining 5 warriors are also paralysed and left in various states of injury, some very serious.

SO, everyone in the front group is now paralysed.

Jaali has been sneaking through the woods for the last round or so, and is now in a position in a tree where he can see the horror. He may begin shooting next round.

Maju does his best at impromptu dinosaur riding control, and succeeds - kinda. He can get the beast to charge forward, but then when he gets to the corner, it is confused and keeps going straight, crashing into the woods about 10 yards and then stopping. He can try again next round to steer it back towards the ghouls, or try something else. Saracen is on the dinosaur as well. The falcon comes back with a now slightly irrelevant report of what is happening.

Kanya rushes up to the corner and can now see 20 yards ahead to the fight. She attempts to turn the ghouls and rolls at 20. 2d6 HD of the once-holy monks flee at the sight of her horrible, horrible holy symbol. This success only amounts to 2 of the undead fleeing. But she can try again next round, for sure.

Apinya fires wildly into the melee and misses everything, hopelessly.

The rear-guard and the rangers are now at the corner, with the cleric and Apinya. The rangers move forward a bit, and throw their spears, and both hit, injuring one ghoul that was attacking Teruk. The rear-guard fighters all badly fail their morale, and stay out of sight of the terrible creatures, back around the corner...

New round - only 4 ghouls left. State your intended actions please.

OOC: @#*&$! I assume Kanya is as far back while still having LOS?

"Damn you all, I said DEPART!" screams Kanya.

OOC: Go go PC-lucky dice rolling!

Kanya is 20 yards back from the ghouls and has direct LOS.

Can Kanya get back farther (like 40') and still be in LOS? She pretty much wants to be as far away from the ghouls as possible. Though the front line will definitely provide tasty distractions for them, she doesn't want to become one herself.

DM: Not really. There is a natural fold in the landscape and a loose path following it - with a very small trickling stream as well. You are at a bend in the path. If you move back into the woods in any direction, trees and vines will obscure LOS before too long. If you move back up the path, you will be around the bend and LOS will be lost.

If you ran back, the ghouls may follow you. Or you could do as Jaali has done and climb a tree - although you'd need a Dex check to succeed.

Still waiting on Maju and Jaali but I will roll for initiative in the meantime

I've got actions from Kanya. Jaali will probably shoot. Saracen's position will be determined by what Maju's action is.
