To Saracen, before the monk appears (since as written Saracen's comment also occurred before the monk appears):
"Fhajah, you fool. They're not trying to kill you. You're doing that just great on your own. They're just not trying to keep you alive. We keep them around. The chief isn't half bad in combat, and the others would make dino fodder if nothing better. We send them away once we get back to the beach. Until then, try not to piss anyone off." Then, with almost a snicker... "That's my job."
To Apinya, also before the monk appears and out of earshot of Saracen:
"Dammit, I really wish I knew why that zargh is so important to the captain. We need to keep a better eye on him. It's been fun letting him get roughed up but that last bout was too close. Neither of us want to bring back his corpse. Got what I'm saying?"
To YC, once he appears:
"Good. You're still alive. The mage as well?"
(insert dialogue here)
"Serpents in the bay, and Fhajah went for a swim with them. He'll be fine after he calms down. Now... the wreck is a bust. We won't get down there without doing something about the serpents, and I don't want to miss the Ari-Ari's departure. We've wasted too much time already on this dangerous detour. Your group is ready to head out?"
Kanya will go fetch Dungbreath once the conversation is over. Yee haw!

Yes, Maju is doing well. I believe we're all ready to go to the ship now. What happened to Saracen?

Kanya wonders if YC heard him the first time. She decides maybe he didn't understand, and tries again. "He went swimming in a serpent-infested shipwreck. Two of them. He's lucky to have gotten out alive. I've seen nereid swim slower. He'll be fine once we get back to the ship. We got ourselves a healer who can fix him up."

Apinya responds as you all move off the beach.
I don't know. Saracen came on board before my time (6 months ago). He's always been a favorite of the Captain. He likes to talk magic with him...but also, the captain always tries to hire underwater critters - the turtle-man and the Lerini, you know? Very useful, at sea. So maybe that's it? I don't know why he would have sent Saracen off alone, if he was so worried about him...
Apinya thinks you were mostly sent to track down the pirate killer, not so much to look after Saracen. One more thing - Apinya isn't very bright...
THE GROUP IS REUINITED at 8am behind the dunes. Saracen is very edgy, and keeps close to the other pirates at all times. He has big teeth marks in his legs, and keeps asking for healing....
Do you wish to proceed? I'll leave it a day and then assume you do.

Maju already has his stores loaded on Kyo. He says, "Are we ready to proceed back to the ship?"

Kanya is happy with the current state Saracen is in. It's clearly related to her vows and nothing personal.
However, she will stay close to him and will heal him at the end of the day if she still has the spell available.
"Yes, I agree. Let's get back to the ship."

All are ready but perhaps Saracen could ride. He doesn't look like he should be walking.

If Saracen wants to ride Licefarm, he can ride behind Kanya. One unwelcome hand and he's on the ground... or worse.
A group of monks?

OK, still no healing for the elf...and on with our story.
The group breaks camp and proceeds back up the road. As before, the mage is riding on his charmed dinosaur, with the monk behind. The sea-elf attempts to mount the beast but Kyo is having none of it, so he accepts Kanya's generous offer, and rides behind her on the camel with many nicknames...
After about twelve miles the rangers make a turn to the north, off the old road, through the woods and towards the mysterious desert. There is a very faint path, of sorts. The trees are huge here.
The sun is setting when the rangers in the front pull up sharply and hiss something back down the path. Maju hears them and quickly translates:
There's people coming, a group of of them, wearing hooded robes, like Yuan-Cheng has! They don't sound like natives at all. Or people from the wreck either!
Sorry for putting words in your mouth Maju but it seemed easiest.
You think the group of monks is still about 120 yards away, at this point, around a small bend in the path. You are in the middle of the party, between a group of villagers at the front, and some behind as well.
What do you all do?

This place gets more interesting every day! I'll go take a look.
YC will sneak over and check how many monks there are and try to find out what they're doing.
DM: OK. You'll have to dismount the dino and move up to where the rangers are...that will be your action. Anyone else?
