It's probably best to wait till morning, though I itch for the sea, visibility would be better. Thanks for the heal Kanya.

Just holding for a while to make sure no one wants to do anything else that night.

The next morning, you'll be getting up at 6am and walking down to the end of the pier and then swimming out to the drop off and moving down to the shipwreck.

Anyone want to add anything before this occurs?

Longman, would the rest of us be able to see what's going on up on the top of the cliffs? What is the distance between the cliffs and the pier? I'm trying to figure out whether we can stay up on the cliff, near Maju, while in decent range of reacting to the water erupting a really nasty wandering monster; or should come down to the village in case Something Bad Happens.

everything is 300 feet now

Post by Longman »

Scratch my last post.

3 more guards decamp and spend the night with Maju - it's only a mile back through the dunes for them to travel. There's now 6 guards plus Maju and Kyo in that location. Saracen and others can still do the shipwreck thing in the morning.

In answer to Woe - no, there's no way you could see Maju's location from the beach - no cliffs, just jungle and dunes.

In answer to Maju - the old pier is fully 300 feet long, and from the end of the pier it is a further swim of about 300 feet out to the wreck location. The ship itself is also in 300 feet of water. So, there's no way you could rope the sea-elf. Even if you borrowed some canoes from the villagers and rowed out to the location - which you could try - I doubt you have 300 feet of rope, all told.

Holding til tomorrow to see if any further questions or ideas arise overnight...

I think the rope idea is great. If Saracen doesn't like it later (he wants to go into the shipwreck), he can always untie or cut it off.

Would Teruk's skin divers be willing to keep an eye on him? Have they spotted Bad Nasties swimming around the area?

Just to repeat - the rope idea won't work at all if you don't take some canoes out to the wreck's location which is 300 feet past the end of the pier. The wreck is 300 feet down in the water too, so you'd need a lot of rope, even with the canoes.

Communication occurs through Apinya, with Teruk. He reports that no marine nasties are normally in the area of the wreck. There were apparently some other sea-elves in the area about 4 days ago, with a charmed marine dinosaur working for them. But the Sulanese have seen no sign of them since, and think they have moved on.

A request for skin divers gets a negative response. Teruk is ready to move on, but will wait for you, if the sea-elf wants to go down.

So, Maju's camp gets attacked by a huge cave bear, about 9' tall, in the middle of the night.

Maju and his familiar are both awake when this happens, and so is another guard. The bear does not get surprise. The bear loses initiative. It is in the clearing with you. You are not engaged in melee with it.

Your go. You got Maju, and one guard. 5 more guards will spend the round waking up and will be able to act next round.

Maju immediately draws a lightstone from his belt pouch to aid his compatriots, as he calls out to rouse the others. He then casts Slow on the bear.

Maju casts his spell. The bear just makes its saving throw. Bad luck.

The other fighter bravely charges the bear with his spear, and misses wildly.

New round - the bear loses the initiative and is surrounded by 6 warriors. 4 of them hit the creature and do it 18 hit points.

It succeeds morale with a 2 and goes beserk. It lands a bite hit, and badly injures a warrior for 8/12hp.

Does Maju want to act this round, or does he want to hang back and let the warriors do their job?

You'll get all spells back at 6am. It is 2 am now.
