Chapter 2: The Land of Sulan

Jaali, seeing what YC is trying to do, will try his best to avoid the crab's attack while tying the woman.

Saracen lowers his rifle and extends his hand. It was worth a try, I guess. And with a simple muttered incantation and a flourish two glowing blue projectiles shoot out of his fingers, one targeting each scorpion.

[Longman]

Out front:

Well, the command words on the snakes works out. They both turn to sticks. Teruk is freed. The men all cheer.

Kanya swaps weapons and Apinya reloads. Maju shoots twice at a scorpion, missing twice. Saracen fires his last MM for the day (that's his 3rd 1st level spell gone) and each scorpion takes 5 hit points! One of them dies, the other has taken 9.

Teruk and his remaining 5 active men attack the remaining scorpion and bash it to pieces before it gets to act.

All is quiet out the front. Your forces have won that area of the battle.

Out the back - Yuan Cheng leads the crab on a merry dance and it follows him all the while. At the end of the round he is back within striking distance of the crab on Jaali.

Lina comes running back outside and moves to the east. It looks like she is running from someone inside the temple.

One of the crabs attacks the red snake and takes it to 10/15 hp. The snake retaliates but misses the crab.

Jaali gets attacked and missed twice! He is a slippery devil! Tying the woman on is taking ages though. That's 3/10 rounds it's going to take finished.

ROUND 9 - YOUR GO.

[Woe]

Longman, can any of us out front hear or see what is happening out back?

[Longman]

The team out back can hear pistol and rifle shots and the screams of dying men - over the last few rounds, that is.

The team out front can hear nothing of what is going on out the back. There is no sound coming from inside the old temple, either.

[Woe]

Not knowing where to head next, Kanya looks for that falcon. Maybe it will give a hint where to head next.

DM: Unless specified, the falcon is hanging around in a tree near Maju waiting for instructions. That's what it's doing now. It's not quite an independent character, It needs a few orders.

Jaali will continue on his task of tying up the woman.

And Yuan-Cheng will try attacking (from behind) the crab that's attacking Jaali with stunning strike (if my attack roll exceeds the crab's AC by 5 or more, it's stunned for 1d6 rounds).

Very well then. Kanya will head to the entrance of the temple, listening as best as she can for anything crawling around inside.

[Longman]

I'm going to assume that the whole front group advances to the front door in this round.

Knotted ropes are here, and climbing spikes, leading up the cliff above the door. It's obvious people have been climbing up on top of the riddge in the last few weeks.

Inside the large stone door - which is ajar - you can hear some clicking noises, which you all think is another giant scorpion some distance inside, maybe around 100 feet. You can hear no noises of human activity there, although maybe you hear some running footsteps from much further inside, towards the back of the temple.

Out the back, the monk does his karate attacks and stuns Jaali's crab with a natural 20, and does 8 hp. The crab fails its save. It is stunned for only 1 round, however. The other attack on the other crab is also a hit for 7hp, but the crab makes its save.

The red snake attacks one of the crabs, and it misses. Crab 3 retaliates and misses twice. It's an epic struggle of incompetence vs hopelessness back there.

The crab following YC now catches him and re-engages with him. He could withdraw again, or just fight...

Jaali's crab enemy is stunned and prone this round. He gets to 4/10 rounds on the 'tying up'' timeline.

A skull warrior runs outside, sees what is happening, and runs inside again very quickly.

Lina very wisely stays out of the way.
