Kanya stays silent. She relishes the idea of using the efreeti to torch the village, and looks forward to the collateral damage caused by the rescue.

In other words, whahuh? Are we supposed to be on a quick in-and-out rescue mission? It's clearly not in Kanya's attitude to suggest a different course of action, but this approach seems to be high-risk and likely to get Papa killed -- or at least the warlock warned about our approach.

As much as I like seeing things go up in flames... Which is alot. It doesn't seem very logical on the basis that we are going to want supplies and aid from the villagers, it is going to be quite difficult to convince them to help us if we set them on fire. Unless of course thats what we want. Teruk will definitely not like it though and he could prove a problem if we go ahead with this. I suggest we walk up the road right up to the ogres, we are an unknown element and the seem to be acting under orders so it is doubtful they will attack us immediately which means that there is less chance of the villagers attacking us. It would probably be best to send Kanya and Yuan up front to distract them, while me Teruk and Maju suprise them while they are distracted and then quickly dispatch them?

Maybe we could pretend we were Teruk's prisoners?

As usual, Teruk has little idea of the crazy plans you are cooking up. When he is informed about the situation in the village, he says:

I have no idea why they would be digging under our temple. But it does occur to me that perhaps we do not need to take the village now. It seems almost impossible to do so without at least one of the human guards escaping. Unless someone wants to guard the north east road to cut off their escape?

The other idea is that we could simply go straight to the temple. But then, we would be without the benefit of the map, which lies in the warrior's ceremonial house. Is there a way we could get into the warrior's ceremonial house without being noticed?

"Tell us more of this place, me and Yuan-Cheng will do it, we are experts in that kind of mission"

Our warriors house? It's a traditional ceremonial house. No locks, no doors, but normally there will be a guard at either entrance. I thought you may have some magic to get past them. Or maybe with the village full of ogres, there will be no guards. I don't know. The map is contained in a chest, with some other things from long ago. But those are private business of the clan. Take only the map, if you go in there.

I could guard the north road, with my rifle they should never see me coming.

That could work, and Saracen could provide cover fire if we continue with the plan to have Kanya and Maju be 'captives' of Teluk and his clan. Both of us are combat-effective without our melee weapons, so we could be 'disarmed' by the villagers without significantly impacting our overall success

Perhaps a more subtle approach would be for Maju to cast Sleep on the guards. Then our thief could sneak in to retrieve the map. According to the book, Maju would need to get within 90' of the center of the building to accomplish this, and the guards would need to have 3 or fewer hit dice and be within 60' of each other.

Heck, for that matter, we could try this on the crowd digging - it affects everyone with 3 or fewer hit dice in a 30' radius. Maybe only the ogres would be left to deal with? Then we wouldn't have to worry about guards running away (that is, if they have low enough hit dice) before we have opportunity to capture them and tie them up. Just a thought.

What I propose : Jaali hides near the warrior's house. Everybody else get near the digging spot and Maku cast sleep. The ogres aren't asleep and the fight make noise. The guards will leave the warrior's house to check out what's going on, so Jaali will be free to sneak out and retrieve the map.

Seems fine with you guys ?
