Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Please Sonja, stop fighting, there is no need for this. saracen takes out a glass bottle from his belt and drinks it (potion of extra healing) Don't be a fool and throw your life away.
"If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants."
Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Jaali will try to knock Sonja unconscious with the pommel of his cutlass. (Subdual damage or whatever it is called)
We may have to get a good discussion with her. But I would prefer if it was done with here tied to a tree than with a scimitar in her hands.

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Let's roll!
Yuan-Cheng tries to position himself between the two and waits for either to act.

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
You should probably roll. With all four of the pirates attacking Sonja, I'll need to see all four stand down.

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Teruk 5+2=7
Yuan Cheng 5+2=7
Saracen 6+1 = 7
Jaali 4+2 = 6
Maju – 6+0=6
Sonja 1+2=3
Hmmm. Things not going well for Sonja.
Teruk has decided to take no part in whatever weird fight is going on here and calls out "Stop! I thought you said you would help me rescue my father and my village! This is madness!"
Only Maju can understand him.
Yuan Cheng interposes himself, and will get to act if the violence continues - while the sea-elf skulls down a potion and regains a feeble 6 hit points, putting him on 8.
Jaali was going to club the ranger unconscious. Do you still want to do that? Then it's Maju and Sonja!

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Yeah, let's stun the ranger !
Edit : actually, I would prefer trying to pin her on the ground and immobilize her.

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Jaali downs his cutlass and tackles the ranger, clinging on to her around the waist and pinning her arms. She is effectively immobilized until she makes a save vs Death Ray when it is her turn.
Maju, your go.
(What an odd game.)

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Maju isn't sure what to do. Most of his spells exhausted, and not much of a fighter, he weighs his options. He worries that Sonja's wrath will now fall to him for having killed her dog. Also, now the tribesmen might revolt and attempt to extract revenge for the earlier combat. He could attempt to be lethal (he does have some lethal magic yet unused), but he doesn't really want to hurt his companions - he just wants them to get along, at least for now.
He calls out to the tribesmen, "We will help you, once we settle this quarrel. Do not think we are weak because of this."
Finally, he removes the Efreeti Jar from his shoulder bag. He was told by his mentor to never open it but in the most dire circumstances. Maju gulps, and opens the jar...
OOC: I would like Maju to instruct Laylat AlHariq to place a Wall of Fire between Sonja and Saracen - but not so close as to injure anyone. If this is not possible, then I'd like to do something else entirely.
Once this is accomplished, Maju calls out in as loud a voice as he can muster, "Sonja, Saracen, stop and drop your weapons…NOW!"

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Seeing the whole party aligned with her kidnappers, Sonja realizes the inevitability of her plight and stops struggling.

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
I have given Maju a chance to stop pulling the stopper out of the effreet bottle once he sees that the ranger is surrendering...but it's no use. The slightest hint of a hand on the stopper and the thing almost pops open in your hand without you doing anything further.
Laylat AlHariq means 'Night Fire' in Arabic and the efreet is well named. He is 12' tall, totally bald, and pure black, with flaming eyes and mouth. He carries no weapon and has no adornments on his body. He appears on the ground in front of the bottle and peers quizzically at Maju. (Remember he has never seen you before).
"Min 'ant alty ftht zujajatan baladi?" he says.
Maju recognises Arabic, but can't speak it. Saracen understands: "Who are you, and why did you open my bottle?"
(The creature probably speaks other languages as well - Desert Tongue being the most likely.)
In the meantime, the ranger has surrendered and the monk and thief now have her captive. The two villagers are startled to say the least, but they do not run away when they see the fire-demon.
Everyone can now act. We are out of 'rounds'.
