Oh really? Because to me it seems looks like you've just attacked a wounded man in his sleep with no provocation. I don't kill for pleasure, if I kill at all, I kill because I have to, to survive, what about that makes you any different from me? I didn't choose this life, it was this or die. As for the Emperors laws, what? here? This isn't your empire with your cushy job, this is the real world, your empires killed more of its own people than I could in a thousand lifetimes just from it's malignant ineptitude. You kill a man for a tyrant you never met and they call you a hero, I kill a man because I'm starving on the street and they brand me a criminal. You're laws are a joke, made to keep the peasants in line so that the rich and powerful can play their little game of thrones, uncaring of those whose lives they ruin and the consequences of their own actions. You are nothing but a tool to them and You're blind to see it, clinging to this "justice" they claim to uphold. Call me a murderer if you must, I'm not ashamed of what I did to survive, but don't dare to pretend you're any better than me!

The villager Teruk (NPC) takes advantage of the chaos and grabs a spear and his bola while no one is looking. (Dave is out of the game for a while).
Jericho the Dog inflicts a further 4 hit points on the struggling sea elf, reducing Saracen to 2. He is on the verge of death.
Saracen then rolls a 20 on his saving throw and is rid of the troublesome dog, for the time being. He also stands upright. He is still making speeches and calling out for help!
Maju, it is your action. You have delayed until now. You may act.

Maju motions to Taku to take refuge in a tree. He then says, "This animal is out of control and must be stopped!" He raises his hand and balls of energy spring forth toward the attacking dog.
OOC: Maju casts Magic Missile. At his level, he should be able to fire two missiles, both at the dog.

The dog takes 10 hit points from the vortex energy (?) summoned by the mage. The war dog only had 10 hit points, and he dies, floundering on the ground with his innards spewing forth from his belly. Nast.
(Woe - rolled your dog's hp and it had exactly 10.)
Sonja - it is now your go, in round 3. Your opponent is on death's door but the other party members seem to be turning on you, and your dog has just been ripped to pieces by arcane forces. Do you want to go in for the kill or back off?

Just to check, Jerrico was 2d6+4 for hp?
I'm suddenly reminded of when Anakin "defends" the Emperor from Mace Windu.
Sonja, now pissed, will finish off the pirate. She'll deal with the loss of her dog and explaining her actions later. And she will be very mindful of where the thief is headed. No backstabbing!

If Sonja hits, Jaali won't attack her. It will instead says :
"So how does it feels Sonja to be cold hearted, coward murderer ? You are happy now ? How does if feels to kill someone sleeping ? You're too weak to attack someone on his feet ?"
(if she miss, Jaali will attack as stated before)

Sonja please! You dont have to do this! Lets talk and settle our differences in a civilised manner like sensible adults. Look at the consequences of your actions, Jerrico was loyal to you, he would have done anything for you and now. He is but another victim of your personal crusade. There is still time to put things right, don't let his sacrifice be in vain. Stop now and I swear I will harbour no ill will against you, the violence can end. Strike me down now and you become the very thing you seek to destroy!

(I'm not a paladin and not a Jedi

)
"Saracen... Even your name means pirate. And what would you and your pirate brethren do with us once the Ari Ari is repaired? Take us to Salaya as we originally intended? Or enslave the strong, ransom the rich, and leave the rest here on the beach to die?"
(Sorry, too much knowledge about 12-18th century pirates here. They weren't friendly types)

No it doesn't! It means Arab or possibly muslim and thats not my real name. Its just what everyone calls me because getting to know someone else is quite dangerous in my line of work, you might find yourself getting to know the sharp edge of a sword instead fat lot of good hat did me. I really have no idea what might await the crew, With me, it was become a pirate or die though I had little choice in the matter. Even that is better odds than the empire would give a man. What do you hope to gain from attacking me? Safety? I doubt the others would tolerate an honorless butcher in their midst so it can't be that, Revenge? What have I ever done to you! That suggests you're doing this out of some kind of misguided sense of justice, unseeing and uncaring of the truth. It's the likes of you who enslave innocent people, you and your wretched empire are the reason so many oppressed people take to the seas, better to die a free man than to exist as a slave. although really I would prefer to live as a free man than die one, so if you would kindly stop attacking me.

Sonja swings away at the sea elf but he steps back and avoids the blow quite easily. It doesn't even ring off his strange, blue green banded armor.
A mere second later, the monk arrives and aims a couple of knockout blows at the ranger. He hits with both of these and does the maximum 12 points of damage. One of them is also a stunning strike, and Sonja is is danger of being knocked out, but she recovers and shrugs off the stunning effects (a.k.a makes her save).
(EDIT: quozl - I forgot about your disarm instruction and had you attack, instead. Sorry. Will try to read better next time).
At the round's end, the thief Jaali sneaks up behind the embattled ranger and attempts to stab her in the behind. He manages to do the sneaking part remarkably well, but the attack only inflicts 6 hit points on Sonja. That's 18 for the round.
The round ends.
Do you want to keep fighting? If so I will re-roll initiative.
