Chapter 1: After the Storm

"Perhaps this is where we part ways. Traveling through the desert during the day, encountering giant scorpions... an unnecessary detour. I don't see how this helps us get off the island."

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
well, the way that I see it, we have a few choices here. One, we go back to the pirates and help them with the ship. Two, we go looking for things and explore this mysterious island. Three, we go a possible settlement where, if it even exists, there is an equal chance of the residents either helping us, or killing us viciously because they worship a cannible god or something.
Now. I personally am not to keen on option one as it involves lots of lifting stuff as well as being around my current crewmates who are somewhat unpleasant to be around for an intellectual. As for option two, I'm much more partial to this as it offers adventure, which is nice, as well as the less important but still fun material gain as well as discovery. Three, while also offering danger seems much less exiting and close than this wierd desert does as well as the likelyhood of them all being murderous cannibals which, to me, does not justify the annoyingly long and dangerous trek it would take to actually get there.
So go if you want, but I would advise you to be very careful on your way, and also to avoid murderous cannibals, they tend to be bad for your health. Whereas I plan on staying with these lovely people as they provide conversation and strength in numbers, even if the monks talking sword is a bit unsettling.
I also know what you're thinking(probably) you're thinking that the verbose pirate isn't to be trusted, well you're probably not thinking that as I can't really see you using the word verbose but something similar I'm sure, you might be thinking that I'm planning something, or maybe you're just paranoid. If it helps, you can just think of me as an oddly dressed maritime and aquatic adventurer rather than just your standard pirate.

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
I don't have a problem with the monk, or the mage. Sorry, I'm not a fan of associating with murderers, rapists, and criminals. Nothing personal. (said sarcastically)
If you really want to know what's going on, read the character background. I came up with that before we had a pirate join the party.

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
"I think you forgot thieves and smugglers. In any case, you're free to do as you please, but I personally think that an association with anybody, even murderers (or paladins in my case ?) is way better than dying. The more I think about it, anything is better than dying. Maybe I'm a bit selfish. But selfish and alive."
The more and more as the speech goes, Jaali lower his voice, ans his definitely talking to himself at the end.
"It was a pleasure to meet you, Sonja. I'll gladly, as the party leader, accept you back in the group if you change your mind."
Someone has to take the lead, no ?

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
"Sonja, we must give a chance for others to reform. I, myself, was quite an unsavory character before I devoted myself to the Great Way. Let's see if this pirate can follow the path of righteousness. If not, I pledge to take care of the problem. Will you stay with us?"

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
The conversation continues well into the night, with some taking sleep, and others staying up and talking with the recalcitrant ranger, who seem determined to part ways with the rest of the passengers and their pirate escort.
Then, in the darkest part of the night, while Jaali is on watch, the ranger's dog begins growling softly at something in the jungle....
Jaali - you can't hear a thing (I rolled for you). I am presuming you wake the others?
Can you all tell me your intended actions once you are woken up?

Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
As Yuan-Cheng awakes, he crouches into fighting stance and listens intently.
Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Jaali will wake everyone, trying not to do too much noise, starting with the elf as he can see in the dark. Jaali then wake the monk and ask him to wake the others while he charges his pistol.
Re: Chapter 1: After the Storm
Maju rises, pistol in hand, to see what's going on.
