The Captain sighs, "We sail south after Caerton. There is no other direction to sail from there now. I have said that the Mist has been seen in the seas between Angland and Scandenland so I would not be able to sail to the north. To the east is land so that direction is out. The west is open but there is nothing in that direction but empty sea. As far as the message goes I would not give more information unless the job were honorably taken. The pay is handsome for a message taker. Your pardon if I presumed on your status. As far as danger. Well. It is obvious. The Mist comes. Any who stay in Caerton over long will be in danger. Hence my desire to turn my ship around as soon as we reach port. Can you blame me? I have my crew to think of and my ship not just my own life."

" If the good captain doesn't want to hire us then we will have to respect his decision. I'm sure hanging around in the tavern for a few days will dredge up most of what is to be know about the town and surrounding area. I would be willing to wager 1 ENTIRE gold piece that one of the errands we may carry out will be rather lucrative, maybe more so than the good capt's work."

(OOC: Erm...everyone please review the coins of Aerth post. 3 gold pieces is $6000 USD. Maybe I'm just a poor college student but I wouldn't ever wager that much money. Whew. Wow. I went faint there for a moment.)

"I can't blame you at all Captain. As Sir Joscelin said i'm still willing to act as a messenger for you. Maybe if you could give us a little more details on the task our friends may be persuaded as well." Says Kynndelic in a conciliatory tone.

The Captain shakes his head regretfully. "I better not. Unless you trust me how am I to trust you? But come. I'm sure all work out to the good. In the meantime there is much to do. I hope you will excuse me as I have much to do. The weather remains good so I am confident we will make landfall at Caerton at dawn the day after tomorrow." Saying this the Captain rises and leaves the cabin. Two stewards come in and start clearing the table.

At this point, William also restates his desire to know more.

Please, we have not refused the offer, good captain. It is just that so far, we know nothing of how far we'd have to travel to deliver your message. If we knew that, we could assess the danger for ourselves. For my own part, I have no objection so long as it is not illegal.

Like Elizabeth, William also thinks the captain is being a bit weird by asking us to agree before we know what we're doing. Maybe Joscelin should accept, just so he can find out what the story actually is.

Elizabeth said nothing on Saturday. Being now Sunday and the captain not yet saying anything yet, chooses to not say anything again.

Edward had been quiet during the meal, his thoughts being taken up with reliving the wonders of earlier that day. Being surrounded by gulls as they squawked incessantly while eating bread crumbs from his beefy hands. Lying across the beakhead and communing with the dolphins as they danced within the bow wave. He chuckled to himself remembering the sailor who came to use the platform in front of the bow to work the sails of the bowsprit. Then the sailor just dropped his trousers to relieve himself from the same platform while he told Edward what the platform was called and some bits about the sails, all mixed in with the grunts of his exertions.

But now he was listening as the Captain asked a minor favor of us whom he has fed and treated so well. It seemed almost cruel to refuse him the request what with the risks he took to sail this close to the mist.

"I will deliver your message, Captain and will consider it an honor to repay you for your generosty and kind spirit during this voyage."

After the meal, Joscelin will try to sneak into boat and find where the captain is. If he does, he will hide himself near and listen at the door for a while. Does he hear anything of interest ?
