Part Five: The Hunters and the Hunted

Lys pulled up short as Gerald rebuffed her request. "Can't tell me what you're after? Really? How, then, am I to know if your actions are honorable or good? I cannot be, for instance, party to an expedition to recover an artifact that will bring woe to the world. If you will not tell us even this simple thing how are we to trust you?" Lys searched the man's face looking for signs of his character.

Gerald looks at her coldly. "I serve neither good or evil. And I seek no magical things. I am not a wizard."

[SerGavin]

"But I am. And recovering any and all magical artifacts is imperative to our continued prosperity." haldor butts in, and for a brief second a cold indifferent look flashes across his face.

[SerGavin]

And just as quickly the look was gone again " Say! what is it that we search for?"

"Well then my good Mage. If we recover any magic items of the type you seek, you are free to have them. I have no interest in them."

The forest stretches out around you. A canopy of branches shades you against the late afternoon sun

"We will need to make camp soon" says Gerald. "The woods are always more dangerous at night."

[SerGavin]

"They mostly come out at night, mostly... the assassins, I mean"

"This place looks as good as any." Lys shrugs. Removing her backpack she proceeds to pull out her bedroll and smooth it out. After doing this she goes through her pack and pulls out one of her rations and eats it thoughtfully. When she is done she pulls out her holy symbol and begins meditating.

"That seems like a verily good idea."

haldor sits quietly in a corner smoking a pipe and reading a leather bound tome.

Akarrus decides to scout out around the camp. He will be looking for signs of humanoid life as well as a place that is more defensible should the need arise. He also will be on the lookout for danger around him.
