The companions find Gerald eating in the common area. He is strangely cheerful. The innkeeper is humming a tune, and scrubbing the (already clean) counter.

Well then, if we're all ready it's time to be off! Does everyone know the plan?

"Well, I believe so" says Gerald.

Akarrus looks at Gerald "It may be best to outline the plan again. As well you know every plan requires perfection in its execution."

"Very well. From the beginning, then?"

I believe that it would be possible for each of us to leave town in different directions taking care to make footprints until we come across a stream. then each individual walks a mile down the stream and stealthily return to town through the wilderness and we all leave in one direction. If my estimates are correct that should fool our pursuers long enough to escape.

"Of course, you assume that all streams in the surrounding area lead back to town. That is not a given, you know. Some do."

"That's a good plan." He smiles briefly "Sounds like the sort of plan Enduri.." He trails off and sighs the familiar grim look settling back into his eyes. "I believe this will work."

everything will go according to plan as long as nobody dies.

"Very well" says Gerald. "I will head to the north, towards the Ruined Lands. When you return to town, head up the path. I will be waiting for you. The rest of you should head in each other major direction. Wizard, do you have any spells of illusion in your memory, or would that be too much good luck?"
