You see a pair of bushes part as a deer rushes through the clearing, and out the other side. Something is not far behind it, and you make out a vague shape of something large crashing through the brush towards the clearing.
(Any last actions before the creature is revealed?)

Haldor grasps his walking staff tightly and tries to hide even further in the brush.

Akarrus replaces his daggers and quietly unsling his bow and nock an arrow. He will half-draw it and wait for whatever it is to reveal itself. When it does he will look it over for weak-points.

Suddenly, a giant beetle burst into the clearing. It looks to be at least 6' long. It stops in the middle of the clearing, as though it can't find what it is looking for. It has vague stripe-like markings on it.

It has no effect. The beetle does hear the incantation, and looks about.

Haldor shrinks back into the bushes trying to be stealthy.

The beetle turns away, and crashes through the woods off to the south to the west, chasing the deer.
(The coast is clear)

Haldor lets out a breath of relief and looks around for the others.
