Sen moves quickly, but the cougar is quicker. It lashes out at her with its maw and claws. Its claws both find empty air, but its cruel mouth strikes true, ripping into Sen's side. Blood sprays out in a great arc. Sen stumbles back in pain, but then strikes back with her blade. Her sword digs deep into the cougar's flank, tearing apart the its flesh. The beast recoils but stands firm.
(Sen, you take 4 hit points of damage. What do you want to do now?)

Sen screams out her fury as the darkfire rises in her and she flings herself at the cougar, her sword swinging in a great arc through the air.

Sen's blade plunged into the hide of the cougar, digging deep within it, before she wrenched it out, with blood dripping onto the ground. The feline lurched back, but found its strength and reacted fiercely. Its snapping jaws just missed Sen, and she avoided one of its claws, but the other one found its mark, tearing across her forearm. Pain wracked her body, but she held herself up, perhaps by will alone.
(Sen you take 3 hit points of damage, I'll edit your sheet)
(What does Sen do now?)

Dropping her now useless two-handed sword, Sen whips out her dagger and, knowing she has to kill this beast or die trying before she bleeds to death, she leaps on the cougar again trying for a slash at it's throat.

Sen lunges forward with all her strength, but sadly misses. The cougar strikes out at her, and strikes her hard with its claws. Sen falls, and her last thought is of Tuk. All goes black before her eyes.
((Sorry Jered- wandering monsters can be nasty))

Tuk standing on the log listens to the woods in a way that only he can feel. The life coursing through the woods then suddenly silence a short distance away. Tilting his head, ears twitching from the strain of his attempt to catch the faintest sound, Tuk feels a sudden emptiness in his belly.
The faint sounds of Sen's scream reach Tuk's ear's just as the sound of a predator's scream. Without a thought of his safety Tuk leaps on the log and into the dense foliage in an attempt to rush to the side of his Sen. Armed only with his shortsword and wearing only his robes for he did not think of putting his armor on, Turk hops over, ducks under, slashes through the foliage while trusting his senses to lead him.

Tuk bursts through the bushes, to find he is too late. A large cougar stands over Sen's lifeless body. It looks at Tuk, and cocks its head, before slinking away into the woods.

Tuk stands in horror as the beast pads into the woods to lick it's wounds. Even knowing it is the way of nature, Tuk's heart is heavy for his lost another pack member. Moving over to her body, Tuk cradles her while mourning her passing.
"Oh Goddess
There is great sadness
A cherished one has gone
Emptyness engulfs me
Loss languishes within
Help me bear this grief
Accompany their spirit
Comfort we who grieve
Let us rejoice in their life
May their essence be recorded
In the Great Book of Shadows
Renew our remembrance with joy"
Tuk starts to cry and rock while holding her body
"Deep in my Bone
the Goddess is alive
Deep in my cells and blood
the Life Force is strong
Deep in my heart and spirit
I believe I will heal
I feel the Goddess at my core
filling me with faith and health
Abundant Life Forces of the Universe
flow in me, and banish all disease
My blood, my bones, my cells and my body
are healing now, are healing now
The Goddess force is in me
and healing me now"

To Tuk, time stands still as he mourns the lost of his pack mate. One that showed promise of being a good alpha. Rocking and holding her as best he can, Tuk sings a song of passing that praises the cycle of life then puts her down on the ground.
He gathers her blade and drags it to her then slowly works it back into it's sheath. He then wraps her body with her cloak if she had it with her as always. Once this is done, Tuk calls out to the others of the group "Howell. Ceasar. It is I, Tuk. I need your help to carry Sen." then waits for the bigger ones of the group to show up.

Caesar runs through the undergrowth after Tuk.He quickly loses sight of the small halfling and stops running to listen. When Tuk cries out he runs toward the sound.Tears pool in his eyes as he comes upon a horrible sight. He sees Tuk cradleing Sen's head rockling slowly and sobbing softly.Tuk straightens out Sen's cloak and sits up."Howell. Ceasar. It is I, Tuk. I need your help to carry
Sen."Tuk says"Of course I will help you my friend."Caesar says trying to hold back his tears and remain strong for his friend in his time of need.
