:D

That does the trick...Milly comes to her senses. She can't remember anything other than having laid eyes on the ghostly shadow creature, and then she blanked out.

You have only spent half an EP so far this day and you are still in the goblin camp in 004. Your newfound tracker rolls a 10% on his first tracking roll and can make out that the two goblins went off with the human in the direction of Po3 - further up the path. They have about 5 hours head start on you if you want to chase them.

Or you could go home and lick your wounds for a while...and hope you don't run into that behir on the way home!

Remember that your ranger can scout for food for himself on a 1-4 in 6. The rest still need to eat rations. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1158&start=620#p47401

Milly stands there, wondering why Chevo and Cholum look so concerned, Thann sheepishly turns away. Why did her face hurt so bad?
"I saw something bad-looking circling the goblins and their captive. I don't have any idea what it is..."

"Well, the tallskins have generally treated us well, so we should make an effort in case we can find him" Chevo puts in.
Thann shakes his head, but tightens his grip on his bow.

The party will head north after the trail into P03, following the direction Cholum indicated. The party will move at a 1 EP clip, Cholum hunting as they go.

Onward!

You push into P03. Cholum's next track roll is a 07.

It looks very much like there has been a scuffle at one point along the overgrown track, about halfway into this hex. The footprints were appearing pretty regularly before this point, and Cholum thinks one goblin was in the lead while the other held the prisoner behind. At this point, the prisoner has tried to break free.

Cholum has no idea what happens after this point. One goblin's tracks go northward and he isn't sure about the other one, or the human.

If Cholum can try again to track anything other than the obvious goblin track then he will at whatever EP cost that may be.
If he can't try again, or figure it out for that matter, then they will continue after the goblin tracks they could see.

At whatever EP cost that may be.

Mucking around in this hex takes the better part of 3.5 EP. I'll say you now have 2 left in the day 5. But eventually...you do find the tracks again. They are just off the road, at the edge of the next hex east (Q03). It looks like they were walking along parallel to the road about 40 feet from it, not directly on it. Both goblins and the human.

Then after a little way, Cholum loses the tracks again. But he suspects they are heading east and roughly paralleling the path, crossing over from one side to the other regularly.

Milly has another 'place flash' at this point, unexpectedly. It's pretty weird. She can see the party, just where they are right now, including herself. She rarely sees herself in visions so its always a bit confronting. "Are my nostrils really set like that?" she thinks.

(Sorry, not very helpful. Not all of them are. Does she want to continue it?)

Practice makes perfect, she'll spend her third spellpoint trying to stretch it out a little bit.

The plan is to follow the trail east for another EP or so, keeping an eye out for any sign of the quarry, then find and set up camp with the final EP of the day.

Practice, indeed. She can extend the vision, but nothing further arises from it. She just gets a particularly close view of her own head, and notices how beat up the two fighters are looking. She's been having a lot more visions lately than normal. Maybe they come on more when she is excited?

You enter Q03 and after about a mile, you totally lose the path. It just seems to run out amid a bunch of scraggly trees and rocks and doesn't come out the other side. There is no sign at all of the tracks either.

You bunker down for the night of May the 5th, finding a small limestone cave to shelter in. The cave has a tight crawlspace right up the back which you would have to take your armor off to explore. If you want to check it out, let me know. (It could be nothing.)

There are no encounters overnight. When you wake up it is overcast a bit windy but you can certainly travel today. You all get 1 hit point back for a decent night's rest.

Incidentally the healing rules are here -

So, we're down to our last day's rations. I suppose Milly is out of food. She'll be giving puppy dog eyes to Cholum before long... Cholum will grudgingly give up his last ration to Milly, confident he'll have a better chance of finding some grub today while they move.

Straight trek(1EP) over to the East into R03 along the trail. The party will however be hunting/foraging as they go for the -2EP hit. (Or was that -2EP/hunter?)
Milly will try to spend a spell point to Place read and see if any good sized deer or berry bushes are in the area. (I realize this isn't exactly how you described the functionality, but she's getting desperate ;) )

If they have no success hunting they will do the same in R03, spending their last 3 EP to hunt while finding a spot to camp out as the daylight fades.

Incidentally the group will keep an eye out in case they stumble onto any goblins leading an Aleut around, though they'll be starting to worry about the rumbling in their bellies.

Actually it is the start of May 6 - meaning Milly still has 1 days food left and the others have 2. Cholum can feed himself in the wild most of the time, but he failed yesterday, however (I just rolled for that).

So, you have ignored the crawlspace at the back of the cave. You move into R03, still looking for that path...and Cholum still can't find it.

What you do find is a grizzly bear! It is by some berry bushes, gorging itself. 100 feet away. It is surprised. So is Milly. The dwarves are not.

What do you do? Attack straight away, or try to get it to leave you alone (a reaction roll). After the dwarves act, it will be time for initiative.

Incidentally - when you are out in the woods, who has what weapon out? We should standardise that. I'm picturing Chevo with axe (front), Cholum with bow (front), Thann with bow (rear), and Milly with a scared look in her eyes (rear). Sound about right?

The dwarves pale slightly, even if they aren't surprised by the great beast. Cholum will speak in an easy calm tone: "Everyone stay calm" as he slowly hangs his bow over his shoulder. Cholum will indicate for the group to back away slowly, (assuming Cholum feels that the bear is in a defensive and not aggressive mood...) The others will comply, though they won't stow their weapons. "Whoa Bear... whoa bear..." Cholum will soothe in a calm voice as the party backs away.

OOC: That marching order as a standard sounds perfect. If anything, Cholum will probably range out 5-10 m ahead of the party most of the time from now on. Even if Chevo feels like he should be the one leading the group.
