Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
Milly attempts to keep the link going and...(dice roll)...can't quite manage it. It's too disorienting.
Also, whenever she has previously had such '1st person' visions, she has probably tried to shut them down. Getting inside someone else's head is exactly the sort of magic that the Church would dislike. So the act of deliberately extending the vision is something she has had no practice with.
The bird flies down and grabs the jerky - a mere morsel for a creature that size - and then launches back into the air again and settles in some trees nearby about 30 yards away.
At this stage you can keep trying to engage with the moruchabhan, or call the encounter over. (Eventually, it will fly away).

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
In the interest of inter-species diplomatic relations Milly will set out a day's rations for the majestic beast.
Milly has a lot to consider with her new experience with the Owl, while Chevo promises that he's not giving up any of his rations to make up for her foolishness. Cholum seems less passionate about the subject and will likely share if the need comes up.
Once the weather lets up, or the following day, the group will resume their trek. Their original plans of trying to track down the owners of the Moruchabhan will have faded after considering that they are likely far north in the dangerous mountains.
The plan is to follow the trail down into K02,L02 at 1EP/hex, then slow it down to explore a bit into L03 and M04 @ 2 EP/hex.

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
One final roll of the reaction dice still doesn't quite get you over the line with the owl. It eats the food, and remains near you for a while, but ultimately won't get to too close. It disappears at night time.
You have no encounters overnight. The following day, the rain lets up and you have overcast conditions.
You follow the trail into K02 and find nothing much. L02 is similar. At L03, you see some tracks of something rather large, crossing the old path and heading north. They are very obvious and require no ranger skill to spot - - it looks very much like a large, many-legged lizard creature has crawled though the forest and over the muddy trail, quite recently.
Dangerous creatures called 'behir' were known to the dwarves of old, but were thought to have been mostly eradicated in this part of the kingdom. This could be one. The behir kind were of varying size, some only 5 feet, others as big as grand houses. It's hard to tell exactly how big this one is, but it's not enormous, maybe about 10 feet long?

Or maybe it's something else. But, the tracks certainly fit the description of the beast of legend.

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
Milly gasps as she sees the tracks, "I'd guess it's a Behir!", the rest of the party looks at her, expressions slightly lost, until she explains the creature.
"A many legged lizard?" Cholum said, "well, I'm not sure we need be tanglin' with one of them!"
Chevo nodded, though he points to Thann and tells him to watch their backs to make sure the beast doesn't sneak up behind them.
The party will carefully proceed to M04 as planned to find a camp site.

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
Down into M04 you go, and you find not much - some old roadside walls, a few small ruins and some milestones etc. According to Milly and Chevo's old map, there's a 4-way junction is just up ahead a few miles, and there used to be some small dwellings there, an even a drinking house / sausage vendor at once time, for hunters. There won't be much there any more, you guess.
You bunker down in M04, spending a full EP finding a good campsite away from the path.
At about midnight, you hear animal noises, including a lot of wolves up to the north. One of the wolf noises sounds much louder than the others - not closer, but bigger and deeper. When it calls, the other wolves go quiet. You don't know what this could be.
It sounds like it could be several miles away to the north. If you want to go investigate, you can. Otherwise, you can wait out the night and hope else nothing happens.

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
As Cholum sits watch he hears the wolves, and the especially dangerous sounding howl from what must be some kind of alpha. He waits nervously, in case any of them start to approach the camp site and relaxes only slightly once he's satisfied that they are hunting a good distance to the north.
The plan for the next morning is to thoroughly explore N04 for the crossroads with 3EP, then take the path to the East if they find it. into 004(1EP) and P03(2EP).

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
Nothing further happens in the night so we are on to the start of day 4. It is quite sunny. The days starts off pretty misty and then fines up later.
The crossroads exploration shows the extent of goblin depredation in the area. All the old buildings and Inn have been destroyed and the place is abandoned. A full 3 EP worth of searching does find a few below ground areas, including the cellar of the old Inn. These do not contain anything of value, but might be a useful place to hide out or camp in future. The inn cellar has a solid oak trapdoor inside it - removed by the goblins, but it might be possible to put it back in place.
In the afternoon, you move into 004 and find the trail easily. Moving into P03, you are in the process of looking for a campsite when you smell woodsmoke. Thann is pretty sure it is someone roasting meat. You do not know exactly where it is, nearby. You'd have to look round to see it. It could be goblins, or maybe Aleut. The former seems much more likely.
You have 1EP left (about an hour and half). You can push further, but then you will be tired tomorrow and will need to spend less EP. If you keep pushing, eventually you get exhausted.

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
The party will seek a site to rest.
Cholum will grumble that they should have sought out the roasting meat. Maybe it would have been Aleut that they could trade with? Chevo will be firm in his order though, camp will be set up. They will set up a vigilant watch however, in case whoever is roasting meat has scouts in the area. Watch schedule will be Cholum, Chevo, Milly, Thann at 2 hours each.

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
You find a decent place to camp in a place where the trees are relatively thick, and hide yourselves away in there. It's warmer than last night so I assuming no fire. How is Milly seeing at night? (It is overcast.)
Milly is on watch, shivering, when she gets shot at by someone, through the trees. The little arrow misses quite badly, and thunks into a nearby tree-trunk. You have pretty good cover, so it would have had to be a great shot to hit you.
She thinks it came from about 40-50 feet away behind some other trees. Each square represents 5 feet. The white things are boulders, the biggest is 15' high. The trees are all about 25 feet tall at least, and have sprawling sideways branches.
It's Milly's go. The others are all asleep. You can wake all three in a round if you are noisy about it. Otherwise, just 2.

Re: GREYFORGE: Visions of the Hoard
At this point, the stealthy approach has been figuratively shoot into one of the nearby tree branches. Milly will probably all but freak the hell out. That being said, she'll call out too the dwarves, and let them know where the threat is once they waffle up, all the while keeping herself low to avoid further arrow shots.
Once the gang wakes up, Chevo and Cholum will move to engage in melee while Thann covers with his bow. Perhaps Milly will find the presence of mind to relax and reach out with her consciousness to try and see through the eyes of the assailants.
