N01 gets the go-over.

You do not find anything after 3EP. Although, Cholum notices that there do not seem to be very many animal tracks around here - especially in the south west part of the hex near 002. He can't find any tracks - - but the absence of regular tracks is intriguing.

The small hills continue down into N02.

Does this discovery change your plan?

"No tracks... I think that's worth checking out" Cholum will update Chevo.

"No tracks! But there's no Behir tracks! That's what we're looking for Cholum, or did you forget!?" Chevo whines.

"Chevo," Thann adds, "No tracks could mean the behir has chased away all the game, it warrants a closer look. Besides, maybe something bigger and badder is waiting for us out there" Thann puts on a strong face, but doesn't seem completely convinced that he really wants to check it out.

"All right, lead on Cholum" Chevo grumbles as the group heads off towards O02.

While the Dwarves grumble, Milly will spend 5 minutes on a Place Read, just in case something interesting happened right at her particular location.

OOC: I'm assuming you meant South-East to O02? Just in case you did mean South West, the group will head into the hex with the absence of tracks and give it a solid 3EP before they crash for the night.

Yep, I did mean south east.

Milly's Place Read - she gets a glimpse of some Aleut hunters walking through this exact area, but it looks like it was in high summer - could have been last year. This is not very exciting. Extend if you like. 1SP gone...

Onward to 002 and you find the behir tracks again. In several places. Cholum can't follow the first lot, which seem to be heading due south, but he can follow the second group quite easily. They are headed east, further into the hex.

The tracks look really fresh - like, yesterday, in some mud left behind after all the rain. Cholum is pretty sure the creature is recently active in this area.

You really sure you want to follow (?) The more exact an idea you get of the lair's location the more XP you get. But, staying alive is also a plus.

Do they lead into more dense forest? I suppose I'm assuming that there is no apparent 'destination' that the tracks are headed towards.

For fear of heading directly toward the behir den, the group will start to cut south, making their way around the southern edge of the hex, looking for more tracks headed into the centre of the hex. If it looks like a safe option, the group will slip into P02 to find a campsite once they've used their EPs for the day.

As you move south the tracks seem to decrease. They were headed towards the hills in the north of the hex.

You move into P02 and rest up for the night after spending 3EP exploring the place.

As you are doing so you find the remains of a permanent logging camp - several hundred years since last used and in ruins. There is a well and a path leading down to the larger path at P03.

The party will try to set up camp in some shelter provided by the logging camp if possible.

With the 3EP spent earlier did the group get a decent look around the camp?

As the group winds down for bed they will debate as to whether they should immediately head back to Greyforge to report where they think the Behir nest is, or explore more first...

As the Dwarves bicker, Milly will do a place read at the logging camp, just for funsies.

If the camp was just barely discovered, the group will start the day by exploring it a bit. But if they've seen most of what they think needs seeing, they'll do the following:

The next morning the party will head straight north up to P01, looking for signs of the behir on the western edge of the hex. They will spend 3EP there, then head north west into O01, unless they see something that convinces them otherwise.

Your combined activity in the old logging camp works out well. Milly's place read shows a long-ago flash of some dwarves hiding a stash of something contained in a large chest. One of the dwarves has the chest on his back and is climbing down the well.

Rather than draw this out, I decided that you would explore the well, which has been capped. The chest turns out to contain a stash of carved objects which Thann estimates are worth as much as 200 gold pieces. The whole thing weighs 40 pounds.

The night passes uneventfully.

The next day - rainy but not to bad - you head into P01 and have no encounters although Cholum say there are much older behir tracks leading off into Q01 from here.

Do you go into Q01 or continue with your plan?

Sweet sweet loot :) it's going to be hard hauling, but I'll find a way to distribute it.

"Old Behir tracks you say...Well we should probably check out out." Chevo tells Cholum.

The group will follow the new 'old' tracks into Q01. And spend 3EP searching the hex.

3EP in Q01.

Cholum is getting a bit confused about what those tracks actually were. He thinks he's definitely on the trail of something large but is no longer sure it is actually the behir. He can't find any definite tracks in this hex.

Just as you are thinking about making camp, you see the giant owl again, flying overhead. It is heading east. It lands in a tree about 400 yards from your location.

Holy Crap! I've been thinking about the Owl, but just realized that I basically have no plan for how this is going to go down... :)

Milly gapes in awe as the great Owl flies overhead. The Dwarves are similarly excited, mostly for the fame and honour it might win them if they were the ones to return the great beast.

Milly looks at Thann, a slight twinkle in her eye as she seems to remember something. Thann fidgets uncomfortably for a moment, "What are ye' lookin at lassie?" he inquires.

"Oh, nothing" Milly says guiltily, shaking herself loose of the mischief in her eyes.

"Everyone stay back" Milly says, while fishing some dried meats from her rations. "I'm going to try... well, I'm going to feed it, and see what happens." She tells the Dwarves.

Chevo puffs up as if he's about to offer up some other, more courageous plan, "Wait a minute! ," he says, glancing toward the huge owl, "I mean, well ... I suppose ye did have some luck dealing with the sky-cursed beast at our previous meeting, so maybe ye should be the one to make contact" Chevo nods at his clever thinking, and waves at Cholum to stand with him as Milly makes her move.

Milly will grab a couple days worth of dried meats, and approach the Owl slowly, holding the food out before her in open palms. The Dwarfs will follow from about 100 feet behind, bows in hand, but not drawn or aimed at the beast. Milly will try very hard to keep her breathing controlled, to project an air of calm towards the owl...
