RED OAK: Return to the Pass of the Hounds

I hope this map helps. Next time I swear I'm just using a pre-made castle. (Problem is, I can't find very many that are drawn in ruins).

Try using an existing castle, then smudging out all of the ruined areas. That's what I've done and it works great, because the smudges|scribbles can represent fallen rock, open areas, exposed areas, etc; depending on the texture|color.

Ok, good. Goblins not nisha. This should be easier. Same thing, watch the entrances (trap doors and windows) into the tower. Hopefully they didn't bring a catapult!

How far away is the one at 4? Kilian might take a shot. Everyone else stays quiet for now, until they get an idea how many goblins there are.

My mistake on the map - Kilian should be facing west, not north. That's what we said.

A shot at the goblin is a no go. Freya would have to climb up and tell Kilian, and then he'd have to change position, by which time the round would be over.

Anyway, he's moved on pretty fast. Kilian and several others can hear him. He is entering the ruined structure of the old large tower behind you to the east. Most likely he will walk right through it an come out in area 10 - which will be about 15 feet away away from Tiana.

The mouse is still exploring over to the north and the goblin Tiana saw slipped out of range of her darkvision.

The torch is now moving again - it is coming down into P04 which means it is about 90 yards away.

If it keeps going it will soon be on the picture map, appearing about the place where it says 10 feet.

If close to Tiana, does that mean Talin, Freya, and Anna can all get shots?

You could fit 2 people in that archway, plus Tiana casting a spell if desired.

So, when it came out into area 10 - if it does - you could shoot it, yes.

If you move, it might hear you. We're still in about round 5.

Freya and Anna will both quietly shuffle into position. They're the quiet types. Let's see if anything comes out.

Rather obligingly, the goblin comes through area 13 (the main tower, which has no floors remaining) and stands out on the bastion platform at #10.

Meanwhile Freya and Anna sneak over there to the arch, while Tiana gets out of the way. It doesn't hear you. It really seems to have no idea you are there.

Do you want to shoot it? It's super close. It looking down to the north. (Edit - the arch is the sort of thing that Kilian would have fortified ? so I'm saying you have left a defensive peephole - arrow slit to fire out of. That means only two people can get a shot here, one at -2 for the fine angle.)

Kilian can see the torch moving into the picture map. It looks like they are headed straight for area 17 which is the easiest way up int the castle grounds.

Talin still listening to the south, can't hear anything. If he wants a look, let me know.

Help me understand my odds (the mechanics)? Close range would make it +1, so one person would have +1(range) +6(Freya) and the other would have +1(range) -2 (angle) +2(Anna)? And it's a surprise round too?

Dang, if only I had put Talin there!

Your calculations are correct - Freya +7, Anna +1. Plus 2 for attacking from behind, apparently.

It's a pretty small goblin with a dagger. Not a big threat.

Anna's not comfortable with the shot, so she and Talin will switch (he has sneaky skillz too!). Everyone stays out of sight of the goblin. If nothing else changes, Freya and Talin will take the shot, with Talin taking the penalty.

He has +3 on goblins (favored enemy) to counterbalance that.
