Well... without better options available, Kilian will be the bait. He'll grumble about it for sure but with the magic ring and full defensiveness, his AC is 24 (not bad). Besides, he's not a very good shot. He'll take one of the magic helmet lanterns to give the humans better lighting to shoot by. Once he flushes one out, the archers will fire and he'll run back to the safety of the barricade.

So that's the plan, mostly. Tiana will have her net ready, everyone else will have their missile weapons ready; and Bruce can fire Kilian's crossbow.

How far down is the creek? Do I have to worry about Kilian falling off or are there walls on the bridge?

There are walls on the bridge, indeed. And the creek is about 20' down. The sides are not even very steep.

I'm assuming you waited another full day until Tue 26 so Bruce is on 7/9 and Kilian on 19/22?

Moving out past the barricade, Kilian advances to a point which is now known to trigger the robots. And sure enough, a robot marches out onto the bridge and challenges him, in exactly the same manner as before.

Immediately is is pelted with missiles from behind the barricade. You have formed into two rows - Bruce and Anna at the front (Anna crouching), and Talin and Freya at the back.

Bruce misses.
Anna misses.
Freya misses.
Talin misses.



Round 2:
Kilian begins to retreat before it gets too close to him. Kilian moves back across the bridge with the robot chasing after him, about 15' feet behind him. The robot gets 30 out and then fires at Kilian, missing hopelessly.

More robots are activating behind that.

Anna moves back to get out of the way, passing through everyone else.

What does everyone else do in round 2? If you all just keep shooting, the robot will reach you but you don't know if it will go past the portcullis or not. Tiana can move forward into position, or stay out of the way. You can only have two rows of people operating spells and missiles behind the barricade. The front row of people need to be crouching, which is a disadvantage for a bow-person but not a crossbow person or a spellcaster.

Bruce misses.
Anna misses.
Freya misses.
Talin misses.

Are you kidding me?!? I swear, I'm going to fire the whole PC party and start over. My first hire will be a Welsh guard named William.

Everyone continues to shoot until it reaches the barricade. If it continues through the barricade, {Talin, Bruce, Kilian, Freya} will engage with their hand-to-hand weapons. Anna and Abigall can fire carefully, and Tiana will make sure no other robots advance.

Round 2 -

Kilian reaches Bruce, turns and readies. (Incidentally he can't be on full defense and move, too.)
Bruce takes up his mace, and readies.
Talin fires and misses.
Freya also misses.

As I tried to explain before, Tiana, Anna and Abigall cannot act right now. There's just too many people in the way. There's 2 ranks in front of you - 2 dwarves, and then 2 archers.

Round 3 -

The party win initiative and continue to pelt the robot with missiles. It does not advance. Instead it stands on the bridge about 15' from you and blasts at the people behind the barricade.

The other two robots, back on the other side, also blast the people behind barricade.

Talin hits the lead robot and does 5hp.
Freya misses.

Bruce and Kilian go on full defence.

The lead robot misses, the magic missile slamming into the barricade.
The 2 behind both miss as well, both hitting stone or barricade.

Round 4 -

Again, you win initiative. It looks like the robot is going to tun and run away back across the bridge again. You can get one last round of arrows at him.

If Bruce and Kilian moved right back, then Anna and Tiana could get into the 2nd rank, and act this round.

I need actions for round 4.

Round 4 -

the robot turns and runs and as he does, is pelted with more arrow and the like. Please cross all these off.

Talin misses
Freya misses
Tiana misses
Anna misses

That's a 2 and 3 7s. Not your lucky day.

Meanwhile Bruce and Kilian can reload bows or do whatever the want to do.

The other 2 robots fire at the archers - the first rolls a natural 20 and hits Freya for 5 hp. The second also hits Freya and does 2 hit points. Total of 7 to her.

The lead robot is now under cover. You are not sure if the firing will continue.

Yikes. Not my lucky day at all. Everyone will back away from the mouth, back to a safe area. I think ducking into that northern door/room will completely break LOS.

Combat over, or do the golems move forward again?

'This sucks' Bruce says, rather pointlessly when everyone is safe. 'Two days waiting, twenty seconds of action. Although at least the portcullis doesn't come down. Maybe when they set this up, the portcullis would have slammed shut behind you and you would have been stuck on the bridge with those things, and nowhere to go.'

It's still early Tuesday morning. Freya is in pain, and sees exactly what Bruce was talking about. She is not burned, but feels as though her insides have been cooked.

(In game terms this is just normal damage. I'm just giving it a description for fun.)

Yeah, this sucks.

We'll patch up, then go back to the tower and explore there. Abigall and Freya can stay somewhere safe (tower?) while the rest of the party explores the nearby area for a day or two.

I'll count arrows and dock them in a bit. I'm still trying to think about how to get you better dice.

It seems to come in waves. Some days Talin literally can't miss and some days he couldn't hit a barn from the inside. I like that about it.

OOC - you are once again getting to the point where I will need to see some HtH action before I can justify having 4th level martial classes in the party. I know you try to avoid it, which is fair enough, but I need to see some at some point, otherwise your melee bonuses just couldn't improve.
