Wine for Roddy?

Poor old Wen still hasn't awoken!

You do not meet any monsters on the way back to CD and pass through some territory rather fast, to your camp. The night of the 15th passes uneventfully.

The following morning (Sat 16) it is cool and sunny, and Autumn is in the air. Jane is still with you, not having been allowed to do much in the night.

Anna is fully recovered from all wounds and poison.

"You sure those potions only work on humans, boss?" says Bruce as he sees her at first light. Hew is still 4 hp down from the wererat's sword.

Caradoc (via Coll) reports all clear on the town. Things have gone very quiet since you were there. The Undertaker almost never leaves his house. 'Muppet' Ross was seen talking to a very ugly looking man with a wide forehead, who went south to Bowen the same day you went into the woods. After that, Ross stays in his cottage, and not much else has happened.

Caradoc is back in TM.

Definitely, wine for Roddy. Another cask (25gp).

Wen hasn't awoken yet? I was curious about that. If Tiana can get a letter off to Ember, she will. Maybe Ember or the other elven sages will know what to try.

Kilian lightly observes that dwarves are carved from rock, and those sword wounds are naught but minor chips off the granite mountain that be Bruce Swordforged. Seriously, is the guy a dwarf or a human? :P

Talin will briefly update Coll with what Jane told them.

Northbound! Off to TM we go.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Freya and Tiana will try to find out more about Jane. Is she a wanted criminal? She's very adverse to going into Red Oak. What's the real reason?

Jane's adverse to going to Cyn Dol. Red Oak, not so much, although she'd prefer not. Caradoc and Coll have never heard of her. She's no big time criminal, that's for sure.

Letter to Brant has been sent.,

Cross of 25gp for the wine. The journey takes the following course:

Sat Aug 16 - travelling to Tor Manis.
Sun Aug 17. Church in Tor Manis, travelling to Carr Farm. There is no longer an ROR stationed here and the Carr family have returned. There have not been any attacks by the Nisha in some time and Huw wants to get his harvest in. His nephews are helping him.

Mon Aug 18 - pretty rainy. You head out into the forest and, I presume, make straight for the Lucha Meet hex, e13. That takes 5EP, just to get there. It has been a very wet day. No sign of any tracks, goblins etc.

Any changes or additions? Otherwise I'll get us started from the point where you arrive at the Lucha Meet, at about 4.30 in the afternoon.

Please do what you need to do to update food and so on.

Food and gold has been updated. A load has been lifted off of Tiana's shoulders.

Once at the meet, Tiana and Freya will advance to the actual meeting spot. The rest will stay farther back, about 100 yards.

Jane can't go anywhere until we heal her. Make sure she knows that if she flees and goes back to civilization, she'll turn into a nisha and be hunted down/killed by groups like the one she's with now. If she flees and goes into the wilderness, she'll turn into a nisha and be hunted down/killed by either groups like the one she's with now or gumps. She's not past redemption but it will require a commitment on her part to not take the easy road this time. Of course, had she not taken the easy road last time, she wouldn't be in this predicament. Maybe dead, but not thispredicament. :)

Monday August 18. DM apologizes for the delay.

Jane is pretty happy to stick with you, for protection apart from anything else. She mentions the fact that she has never turned into weasel form and isn't sure how to do that yet. Maybe it is just a matter of trying...

Anyway, you are at the meeting place, a hollow between the mysterious island and the old ruined monastery. Tiana advances and leaves some wine and nothing happens initially. You weren't expecting this to be fast.

In the latter part of the day, however, Freya spies a mouse creeping in from the north side of the clearing and heading straight for the wine. It's darker than Roddy and almost rat-sized.

Was it a cask, bottles, how done?

Also, what do you do now?

It is a cask, kept pretty close to the elves.

Freya points out the mouse to Tiana. Both of them watch the mouse approach but make no threatening moves. Tiana is weaving a net token and Freya is just watching the mouse.

It transforms into a mouse-man a few inches taller than Roddy, also wearing a monks outfit and with a small staff.

It sniffs the wine for a short amount of time and then turns, evidently addressing you. He sounds quite old.

"Thank you. This is just what we wanted. You can come out now. I know you are there."

I'm confused. The elves aren't hiding. If you mean the other ones, they're 100 yards away.

In that case, the dark mouse made its way into the clearing and then transformed and came up to speak with you.

His name is Brother Alfyl. He thanks you for the wine, and then asks you what more you have found about his people's enemies, the Nisha.

You notice every now and then he looks eastward to where you know the lake is. Sometimes he also looks upward. There's no sign of eagles, though.

(in Sylvan) "Brother Alfyl, I am Tiana Moonglade and this is my friend Freya Tigersong. We are friends of Brother Roddy. Is he doing well?"

That's meant to be small talk and a brief confirmation that we're who we claim to be (and he knows enough about Roddy to mention it)

"So you know, there's more of my friends south of here, near the treeline. They're dwarves and humans, and we didn't want to harm you."

"About the nisha, yes, we've learned more."

(she'll share what Jane shared; let me know if you want me to write it out)

"Also, we encountered two nisha south of here. They escaped, but they had a captive of sorts. Jane has been marked by the nisha, but she was coerced into it. They wanted to kill her, but we aren't sure why. Do you know whether she can be cured? We thought Roddy might know how, or whether there is anyone in the woods that may know."

She won't mention the man at the lake yet
