Emlin isn't bothering me at all. The "write up what happened last July like it was two weeks ago" is more the challenge.

I have been grouping a bit:

- Malagosbe, the Old Man, and probably a decent amount of dwarven archeology. That would be Kilian and a bit, Talin.
- The Well of Four Souls and Moonglade, which would be Tiana and a bit, Freya.
- Resettlement, the Nisha threat, and the funky magic that knocked out Hen. That'd be mostly Ranger stuff (Talin) and probably by association, a bit of Kilian.

That means, Malagosbe and Moonglade are the two main arcs I see right now, with the Old Man being a threat across two (or more!) arcs. The best leads for Malagosbe are the locked door under (that fort the Marshall now controls) and where the party just departed from. The best lead for the Well of Four Souls is oddly, back to the same place the party went to.

Ergo, we go back! Soon as I'm done writing up the summary -- and the summary really is the ability for you/us to explore other arcs like the Marshal, what happened with Sir Bors, whether Talin can patch things up with Anna's da or the new curate, etc.

Again, no problem with the rangers. If Emlin requests Talin onto desk duty for a year or something equally bleck-ish, that'd be different. So far though, Emlin has been a cool source of info and help. Why turn that down? Much easier for him to get convinced he wants more info about the other area, deeper into the forest, that the soldiers haven't explored yet.

Does this mean back on another foray right now, or to Brant and then back?

I sorta need to know if you are going to Brant. I had figured you would but if you aren't, that's fine.

I /think/ go back for a bit more spelunking, but not sure yet. It depends a bit on what the corporal comes up with, as well as whether Emlin feels strongly about where to go next.

Brant is coming soon, either way. Now that the party can teleport into the catacombs, it will make trips to Brant/Red Oak and the catacombs MUCH faster. Maybe it's this trip since they have a monty haul to sort out. Maybe it's a quick overnighter while it's waiting for a coach. Either way, Brant is going to be coming soon because:
- need to identify everything, and not just the magic items. The runes, the scripts, the carvings, the code book,... everything.
- Research! What is this place, places near it? Everything from history to culture to valued goods. What are the nisha? The goblin tribes?
- Tiana may have a letter from papa!
- Sell a few things and probably pipe some back income back into Red Oak, though I haven't figured out how to do that subtly.

You having fun or is this too slow? I am enjoying it, myself.

Yep! I'm definitely having a great time. It's not too slow at all. IMO the fun part of RPG is the role playing, and the scary part of role playing is combat. Crawling through a dungeon where Nothing Happens... it's much like the parts of the Lord of the Rings that I like to either fast forward through or use as a break to pop popcorn.

Now that I think about it, Kilian's favored enemy is shapeshifters. I was thinking about that on the way home. How does it work? If it were +3 vs goblin, then he (I) would know when he's fighting an goblin and add the bonus. But he wouldn't know when he was fighting a shapeshifter. Does he:
a) have an innate ability to sense shapeshifters?
b) wait until they shapeshift then add the bonus?
c) he never knows but you do, so you secretly add +3?
d) I've overthought this and should find another topic to OCD on?
